Helen was in the common room, clothes strewn on various surfaces as she tried to decide which were the best to cut up and make real clothes with. She'd had enough of the pirate wench garb.

There was a large amount of leftovers from the pasta, cheese, and meat dish she had made for Rodney this evening set out on the counter if anyone was interested.

"It looks like a textile market in here," Seregil observed with humour, as he wandered in.

She looked up in annoyance, then smiled when she saw who it was. "Yes," she agreed. "I am determined to make something reasonable to wear. There is certainly enough fabric!"

She tugged again at the low bodice of her gown. "This... thing is making me crazy!"

"You wear it well," Seregil complimented. "Although yes, corsets are not often the most practical of garments."

She blushed, ducking her head a little. "Thank you. I find them most... awkward. And itchy."

"I've noticed that," Seregil said. Then, realizing how that might sound, explained, "I've had on occasion had reason to take on the persona of a lady." He smiled. "Life can be strange."

"I spent the better part of a year playing the back end of a horse," Helen said drily. "Life can be strange, indeed. What drove you to play a lady, though?"

"Let's just say no one was looking for a young noblewoman, but they may have been looking for a young male bard."

Helen nodded. "That would be a good reason. Your life was quite difficult there it seems."

"It's had its moments," Seregil said with a shrug. "But I detest being bored so..."

"You too, huh?" Angela remarked, looking at the clothes the other girl had lined up.

Helen looked up and nodded. "Yes. I do not believe I can wear this terrible thing one more day!"

Angela fidgeted with her skirt. "It was kind of a novelty at first," she said. "But one I'm getting sick of really, really fast."

"I'm thinking there is enough fabric that surely I can make something actually wearable out of it," Helen said, staring at the clothes in some annoyance.

"Are you good at crafts?" Angela asked. "Because if so, then I would say you definitely could."

"Not very," Helen admitted. "But I am rather determined."

"The most important thing," Angela agreed. "I'm sure you'll pull together something that works." Unless the island decided to change them into different pirate clothes of course... but what were the chances?

Helen looked at the clothes in front of her and sighed. "We shall see."

She glanced back up at the other girl. "There is food up there. Please feel free to help yourself."

Angela looked over at it. "Aw, thanks," she said grinning at Helen. "What did you make?" she asked.

"The women's fashions the island's been gifted in are definitely sending a statment," Seregil commented.

"Not sure it's a statement I really want to be sending..." Angela said looking down at herself. "Feels like I'm defying gravity here."

"Corsets can achieve some startling effects," Seregil agreed.

"Also, kind of uncomfortable," Angela added. "You think they'll go back? Because I really preferred the stuff I had before..."

"Things usually switch back eventually," Seregil said. "I spent a weekend as a vampire romance writer back in the winter."

"Really?" Angela said pulling a face. "That's creepier than the people who've become ponies," she decided.
