Toby was really very depressed about Kevin being a complete tool and breaking up with him. Again. He didn't feel like doing much of anything after waking up at 1pm all sticky with rum, so he'd showered and drug his pillows out to the common room to watch some daytime drama.

"Oh Colt, you should know better than that," he said, eyes glued to the program. "She's a tramp! Go for Travis, at least he's hot!"

"That sounds very...," Chad needed a moment to figure out exactly what he thought it sounded like.

"Bright," he decided, with a nod. "So kinda fitting."

"Shiny," she said, grinning. "I keep worryin' Alec's gonna hate it one of these days."

"I don't see how he would," Chad said, with a pretty considerable amount of sincerity, although it wasn't obvious in his stoic tone. "Is Alec your roommate?"

She nodded happily. "He's the real pretty one who looks like Dean," she said helpfully.

Chad nodded. "Yeah, I've been here to remember when he was here the first time. Is it the same Alec that was here before, or a different one? 'Cause that happens sometimes here. Different versions of people."

Like different versions of Kaylee, for that matter, but Chad was going to hold back that detail a little. He didn't know how much of Kaylee's brain had been broken in yet, and he felt awkward when he ended up doing it.

"Oooh, really?" Kaylee's eyes were huge. "That'd explain some stuff."

Not realizing that he may have helped reached a bit of an epiphany or sorts, Chad's head tilted. "It does?"

She nodded. "'Cause my friend Ned said that I did some stuff that I didn't do one weekend, so maybe it was a different version of me!"

Chad took a moment to work his way through that, and then gave Kaylee an firm nod, with a grunt of agreement.

"Exactly," he said. "And, like, you know, before, a while ago, there was actually another 'nother Kaylee that went here, but she was only here for a little bit. She worked at the music store with me."

"Really?" Kaylee had not known that. "Huh. I wonder where she went off to."

Kaylee was adjusting to Fandom, yep.

"Back to outer space, I think," Chad said. That would have seemed the most logical conclusion, really.
