Second Floor Common Room [Thursday Evening]

Ned decided to cook.

After realizing he hadn't cooked anything but a can of soup (take out dinners were so much easier) in the last few weeks, he decided to rectify with a new take on a pie he'd made in the past.

So, there were supplies and ingredients and a guy in a flour stained blue apron moving about the common room.

Ned didn't know anyone by that nickname but waved off the apology. "Don't worry about it. This place is big. Hard to remember everyone's name."

"You could always ask the squirrels I suppose," she suggested. "They know quite a lot, the squirrels here."

"You've talked to the squirrels?" Ned asked. "Did they talk back?"

"They report the news, I was told," Viki said. "Which seems quite right and proper, really."

"It seems kind of weird to me," Ned replied though, really, what didn't?

"We have squirrels back home that wear capes and fight," she explained. "So this isn't very hard to imagine."

"...I have a sunflower field in my home," Ned said, feeling very boring.

"Do they put people to sleep? Sometimes flowers do, you know."

"No." Ned frowned. "You come from a scary world."

"I do?" she blinked at him. "It seems like just a world to me, really."

"To me, it sounds kind of scary," he amended. "I'm not used to battle squirrels."

"They're very sweet when not in battle," she assured him. "They run away from people a lot of the time then."

"Why do the squirrels battle?" Ned asked.

"When they join the army!"

"The squirrels are your army?" Ned asked. "Just squirrels?"

She shook her head. "Noooo, but they're allowed to join just like anyone else! It's all very fair."

"So, you have a mixed...species army?" Ned said, trying to get it all straight.

"Yes," Viki said, beaming. "We've got unicorns, and kobolds, and werewolves, and even a vampire. The squirrel's fit in very well."
