Right, showing Jaina how to cook. It couldn't be too hard, John reasoned. He was not a good cook by any stretch, but he was capable of boiling water and setting timers and following directions. The whole endeavor was more about showing her what cooking entailed in comparison to making a sandwich or microwaving popcorn rather than some sort of five course meal.

And he was prepared. He'd purchased ingredients, he'd gotten out pans. There would be spaghetti for dinner, and enough for everyone.

"Okay, so first, you know what a stove is, right?" John teased, rubbing his hands together. At least he hoped he was teasing.

"You never know when we'll need to work stuff out," Jaina said innocently.

He stuck his tongue out at her. "Hey, I'm much better with the sharing thing."

"You are," she admitted, and she did like that. "Though I can't imagine what else we'd use the handcuffs for." The big liar.

That got a nice slow smile out of him. "I bet that brilliant mind of yours could think of something."

"I'm sure it could," she said, and it totally was. "I'm also sure you could help me out with whatever I come upp with."

"I think I might really like helping you out," he said, because he always did and it could be fun.

"Then maybe we should test out some ideas," she suggested.

"But first, we have to do the dishes."

"They can't be there in the morning?" Said she who was leaving in the morning, yes.

"You're gonna get up early to do them before you go?" He was so not getting stuck with solo clean-up duty.

"This is another reason I don't cook," she sighed, because she so wasn't getting up for that.

"I promise to make it worth your while later," John said, reaching out to rub her shoulder.

"Oh, you have no idea," Jaina said, mostly teasing as seriously, it was dishes. "Doesn't mean we have to take long at this."

"Gonna show me a trick to make it double time?"

"...Work fast?"

"For this you have no special power?" he teased.

"You mean I didn't show you the one where I can super speed through chores?" she said dryly. "Even if I could, I think that'd fall under 'gross misuse of powers'."

"Dishes can be kinda gross," John pointed out.

"We didn't do anything too bad to these, though, I think," she said. "But maybe they could settle overnight anyway." Had to try.

"You're determined to get out of clean-up, huh?" John said, amused by this turn.

"Cleanup's boring," she admitted.

"You've never cleaned with me." He needed to not make cleaning dirty.

Jaina paused. "Now I have to see what makes that so different."

He snagged the dishes and backed toward the sink. "My involvement's not enough?"

"It's still cleaning," she pointed out, walking with him.
