Gym: Tuesday Morning

After waking up early for a five mile run through the Preserve, Worf spent an unusual amount of time having small furry creatures attack him from above.

While he found them to be of no consequence to deal with, Worf thought it would be better to continue his exercise routine indoors in order to eliminate any more interference with his routine.

Which is why anyone entering the room would find the Klingon practicing his mok'bara forms.

It was, by now, a careful habit to greet whoever was in the gym with a simple, "Morning." It wasn't quite a 'ho', but it was the standard here, and Ender didn't feel like messing with it. Next on the menu was also a careful pacing towards one of the exercise machines.

Just in case the other occupant was going to be as frustrating as the girl the other day.

"Morning," Worf said in a measured response. He didn't look at the boy who entered until he had finished a particular movement.

"Are there still small furry bears attacking from above outside?" he asked before starting a new kata.

Ender took the moment to put his bottle of water onto the floor. He didn't answer Worf's question until he was back upright. "Yes," he said, rubbing at his head. Somehow, he felt he should've been ready for something of the kind, but Fandom stayed strangely random. "They are."

Worf let out an irritated sigh before ending his routine to take a break. "Are these animals common to this new environment? I would thought I would have heard of them."

"I have no idea," Ender replied, observing Worf with sharp eyes. It was mostly habit, and a bad one at that, but he swiftly took in build, movement, muscle. Just in case. He hated it. "But I'm pretty sure they're not supposed to fall on your head."

"I think I preferred the pirates," Worf grumbled before heading over to the punching bag. "I am Worf," he said by way of introduction that in Klingon terms was almost friendly.

Ender's towel met the floor next, and he segued easily into the first of his stretches. "I'm Ender," he replied, in a tone that came close to matching Worf's. "At least it's not singing rats."

"They had enough sense to run away when confronted," Worf said before sending a volley of punches at the bag. "These... bears seem to lack common wisdom."

"Which means we're the ones who'll have to bring the common wisdom," Ender said, glancing up at the ceiling for a moment. "Maybe an umbrella."

"Are you sure that would be effective?" Worf asked with a grunt as he hit the bag again with a rather punishing blow.

"I haven't tried it." His arms now loose, Ender scanned the room for something else. Sometimes he missed the rope back at home, but he wasn't going to push himself. Not again. Not any more. "It'd need something with a better structural integrity."

Worf paused briefly to study Ender a bit more before striking out at the bag again. "I would think so. Cloth and small metal skeleton would not be very useful."

In the end, he picked the bikes again. He needed the exercise to keep himself on the right level-- he didn't want to push it and become buff, gather up enough muscle tissue to smother his own mind. "You might just want to take part of the roof."

Having seen the same furry creatures when he started his morning run, John turned around and headed for the gym. It was a good day to practice that whole running but going nowhere thing on the treadmill.

Hopping on one and getting it started John lazily saluted the guys already there. "Morning!"

"Morning," Worf said gruffly as he went through another kata. "You are... John. Correct?"

"Good memory," John said. "Of course, it's the second most common name in my world, but that's my world." He watched the kata interestedly as he started running. "And you are obviously still Worf."

"Obviously," Worf replied dryly. "Still making friends with people you just met?"

"Only really special people," John grinned. "How's the martial arts thing going?"

"I haven't killed anyone today. Yet," Worf replied. "Maybe I'll have better luck tomorrow."

Hmm. Hard to tell if he's joking there.

John didn't know why that sort of talk amused him, but it did. "Looking to kill anyone in particular or just the stray annoying person?"

"I'm not picky," Worf said solemnly. "Just as long it's a good fight."

"Oh," John nodded, deciding making Worf mad was never something he wanted to do. "Do you ever not kill people you fight?"

"Of course," Worf replied. "When I spar I don't kill anyone."

Beat.

"Intentionally."

"Huh," that was still a point in favor of never sparring with the Klingon. "Can I ask how many people you've unintentionally killed?"

Suddenly Worf wasn't having fun anymore.

"One. An accident," he said rather stiffly. "However that was during a soccer match."
