Wee Gremlin Campfire [Sunday Late Afternoon]

Hannibal hadn't been sure what he'd think of the cabins (especially considering his cabinmate and wow, that was going to take some getting used to) but it was a chance to be outside, under the sun with a campfire in front of him.

So, as soon as he was moved and his bag was shoved under his bed, he was outside, legs stretched out in front of him, eyes closed and sun warming him. Shirt on but maybe that would change if it stayed warm.

He'd always wanted to go to summer camp.

Chad still couldn't get over how...fitting he felt it was that he would be in the Wee Gremlin cabin, not because he was wee (clearly), but he had been a Gremlin for well over a year and it made him feel like he was doing his squad proud. Or something like that. Either way, he was in what was to be a good cabin based purely on its name, there was a new cat in his life (although, currently, it was just Prince Oscar Pedro on his shoulder), and Teddy was in his cabin, too, so all was pretty much right in the world, he just had to go and move in and call it good.

He lifted a hand in greeting to Hannibal already there. "You in Gremlin, too?" he asked. "Or is the campfire hopping already starting?"

"Nope, I'm in there," he said, nodding back towards the cabin. "A4. You too, huh?"

Chad nodded, reaching over to scritch Prince Oscar Pedro a little behind his ears. "Yup. B1."

"You and your cat, huh?" Hannibal asked, smiling down at the cat and trying not to stare. "Cabin mascot?"

[Shhh! No one saw that!]

"HII!" Oh yeah, he remembered that kid. "Are you guarding the fire?"

...Why did this kid look familiar?

"Uhhh, no?" Chad said, wondering why anyone would be. "Why? You're not thinking of jumping in, are you?"

Because that would be kind of stupid.

So it was a lot like being back in the barracks at Battle School, after they'd advanced him but before he became commander. Ender could live with it, even if he had some question marks to put behind the assignments. He wondered if they were trying to make him deal with Hannibal; if it did, he didn't care.

He sat down outside without any fanfare or words, some distance away from Hannibal, but not enough to make it look as if he was avoiding him. His hands were restless. He wanted something to do.

Hannibal glanced over at Ender and then back at the fire. "Having fun?"

Ender didn't look back. He was looking at the fire, too, and wondering if it meant anything. But he was out of imagination, and so it was just a fire. "Not just yet," he replied.

"Hi!" Wade bounced a little at Ender. He knew him an' an' he couldn't really recall how, but he totally did.

For a moment, Ender almost thought he was back with the launchies. But no; it was just any small child, there clear as day. He really should be used to this. "Ho," he said, offering the boy a passing glance.

Chad noticed the kid he didn't remember seeing anywhere else (wait, no, he was in Senor Deadpool's class, wasn't he?), and lifted a hand in greeting.

"You in this cabin, too?"

"Yes," Ender replied, his gaze settling on Chad with an impassive grace. It wasn't really true. He was tall-- he almost seemed too tall, like if he stood up, he'd find his head all the way up in the clouds, listening to the birds. "I'm Ender." If they were going to talk, he knew introductions weren't going to take long, and he'd rather be the one starting them this time.

Hannibal blinked at the very...loud kid. "Hey. You lost?"

Wade beamed. "Nope! I'm right were I wanna be."

Jamie had heard that there were cabins, and he felt that this was something that deserved his attention. "Afternoon," he said politely.

"Hey," Hannibal said, confused at all the kids. "Where'd you come from?"

"Germany," Jamie replied. "I'm actually British though. Da's just working on a contract there." That was very important to clarify.

Marco was awake, really, as he headed over to his campfire and tried not trip over his feet.

"Careful there, guy," Hannibal said, smiling over at Marco. "No need for injuries on the first day."

Marco yawned. "I'm hard to injure." He sat down, rather abruptly. "Marco."

Angela gave the group at the campfire a bemused smile as she sat down. "Where did all the kids come from?"

Someone's a little out of the loop, obviously.

"You didn't hear?" He tried to look as shocked as he could. "I'm a daddy!"
