Adorable Panda Campfire, Sunday Night

Ella was more than slightly fond of the cabins and campfires; they reminded her of home, and it saddened her a little to know they'd be moving back to the dorms soon.

Determined to enjoy the time she had, she kindled a fire despite the warmth of the night and spread out a blanket on the ground nearby, then sprawled out to stare at the flames.

She absently hoped no one would trip over her.

"I don't know," Dick said. "I've never actually been commissioned to write a jingle before."

"Then you ought not charge very much," Ella reasoned. "Suppose it's not very good?"

"But I don't do anything expecting that it won't be very good," Dick said. "When I do something, I shoot for better than I think I can do. So I have to charge a lot on principle."

Ella wasn't following, no.

"But you can shoot for the best and still not ask for a lot of money," she suggested. "That way, you'll really exceed expectations."

"The higher price is a symbol of how much I expect from myself," Dick said. "Also, it scares people off from wanting to make me write jingles for them."

"So you wouldn't write one for me just because I asked?" Ella queried, with a mock pout.

"Nope. It would be bad business to just give it away to anyone unless there was a real charitable aspect to it. I'm going to need some sort of payment," Dick said, sticking to his guns.

Ella thought about this. "I don't have much money," she told him. "Was there something else you had in mind, hmmm?"

"I never actually said it had to be money," Dick said. "How about a kiss?"

Ella considered teasing him or keeping the innocent act going longer with feigned shock

She decided she wasn't that mean.

She leaned in, closing the gap between them, and softly pressed her lips against his. That should answer his question.

"Is that a yes?" Dick asked softly when the kiss was over. Because he was a smartass.

She giggled and thwapped his shoulder lightly. "I think it is," she said. "And, of course, you owe me a song now."

"Okay, my award-winning jingle for Caritas," Dick said. He thought about it for several seconds before singing, "We serve booze to minors."

Really, what else would they need in terms of advertising?

Ella had to applaud his creative genius. "Would you object to another kiss as a bonus for your excellent work and dedication?"

"I'm not likely to object to another kiss for anything at any time," Dick said completely honestly.

"I'll keep that in mind, then," Ella told him, and went for a second kiss.

She had decided kissing him was fun, it seemed.
