The gym, Tuesday afternoon

Weirdly, it was good to be back in this gym, which Jaina had clearly spent too much time in if she could think that. She wasn't hitting anything today, not because she didn't have reason- she always had reason- but was instead opting for the treadmill. Apparently cardio and endurance was something that was a really good idea to keep working on, who knew.

It probably was best not to ask how long she'd been down here.

After catching up on sleep and letting any soreness from his time back in Fandom go away (being hit with chairs hurt), Dick was ready to hit a treadmill. He'd save the laps around the island for another day.

"Hey, Jaina," he said when he got over to the treadmills. "How're you tonight?"

"Fine," Jaina answered, which would probably be her response even if she wasn't. She was also only slightly out of breath, which was pretty amazing. "You?"

She was really going to have to stop asking people about themselves.

"Pretty good," Dick said. "We'll see how much that changes after too much time on the treadmill, though."

He started the treadmill at a light jogging pace to warm up.

"If you downgrade, you're not doing it right," she advised, still on her running pace. Though let it be known Jaina was insane like that.

"That won't be a problem," Dick said. "I tend not to know I'm done until I fall over out of exhaustion and the treadmill rejects me at a high speed."

Jaina smirked. "Either way, I'll have to stick around till one of them happens."

"It's the showman in me," Dick said, punching up the speed to a running pace. "I'll do anything to entertain a crowd."

"Does it count if it's just one of me?" she wondered.

"There's probably a squirrel here somewhere," Dick said. "That's two spectators, so it counts."

"And the video cameras," she pointed out, sort of testing the reaction.

"If I embarrass myself, I need a copy of the video. All I need is some video editing software and I think I could find a way to sell it on the internet," Dick said.

"I'm pretty sure there would be people willing to do that for you," Jaina said, finally lowering the speed on the treadmill by one.

"Do you think they'd do it for the sake of the challenge, or would I have to pay them?" Dick asked.

"They might do it for the good of mankind," she said. "You never know with people."

"I'll be sure to give them a signed copy of the video," Dick said. Surely that would be enough of a prize to encourage any potential helpers.

"I think you may be one of a kind," Jaina decided, suddenly sorry Artoo wasn't around.

"What can I say?" Dick asked. "Growing up in a circus means you have no shame."

"I somehow wasn't aware that was a side effect," she mused.

"You obviously haven't seen the kind of outfits circus kids have to wear during performances," Dick said.

"I haven't. That bad?"

"Like I said: no shame," Dick said. He was good and warmed up now. He could start setting the treadmill to a higher running speed.

"Also possibly a glutton for punishment if you go around telling people this stuff," Jaina said.

"As long as nobody has pictures of what I used to wear, I think I'm okay," Dick said.

"What happened to no shame?"

"Just because I have no shame doesn't mean I want people to try to blackmail me," Dick said.

"You sure? Don't want anyone posting it to the internet?" Okay, maybe Jaina hadn't gotten rid of all her evil.

"I'd rather they didn't," Dick admitted.
