The Roof, Monday night
So Amber was feeling a little lonely. This meant that instead of sticking to her room, she took herself up to the roof to gaze out and about and just think. About stuff. There was so much on her mind she could hardly focus on one thing in particular, but whatever. Due justice was given each thought no matter how little or big.
She dug out a pack of cigarettes from her back pocket and held them in her hand, thinking about lighting one. Really, it was such a bad habit and one she really didn't want to start. There was such a thing as an occassional smoker. Right?
[The roof is public, so the post is open, yep!]

Vicious circles, ankle biters, it was close enough.

"Are you doing heavy thinking?" she wondered. "I should have also thought that a roof, besides that, was good for staring at the stars. Neither of which, I'd imagine, the biters are much good at. I am not sure that they have eyes, though it's possible."
Or brains for that matter.

This was Viki trying to be helpful.

"Have you only come to the roof to get away from the ankle biters?"

For a long moment.
"Most people," she said, still lightly, but slightly more subdued. "Would say I do not think at all."

"People think what they want," she said. "I've found I'd rather not lie just to prolong the whole affair as either way it'll eventually make itself clear. But it does make people uncomfortable."

It was just that, sometimes you tried too hard to make someone like you even if you knew it just wasn't going to happen. What was that about?
Amber shook her head, looked at the pack of cigarettes in her hand. "Do you smoke, Viki?"

She considered it. "Did you ever really want them? Or was it just something to do? If you don't mind me asking, of course, but it is interesting."

"They are not, I suppose, me at all," Viki smiled a bit. "They'll be well disposed of, I assure you."

"Do you have a boyfriend, Viki?" she asked, changing the subject.
no subject
"I don't," Viki admitted. "Though, really, I have not looked. I never stay in one place long and that seems rather unfair to all involved to get overly attached."
