Third Floor Commonroom - Tuesday, afternoon - 9/02
The fact that he was in the kitchen probably surprised no one, but what he was doing probably looked a little funny. The candy thermometer, the multiple pots, all the cleaning...
Summer ice was not an easy thing to make. He still had a few faint lines on his arms from when he'd first tried to make it after Sarima's sisters had been taken.
That said, the scent of rosewater and lemon and sugar was high on the air and everything was going smoothly. He already had his first batch on the counter, the second in the fridge and the last he was just finishing up.

"This is rather an awkward place for this sort of thing. I hope you don't mind."

"Not terribly. Though somewhat public."

"Oh, don't tempt me."
And then he blinked as he realized how she might take that and hoped he hadn't insulted her.

Dizzy. He was definitely dizzy. Warm and bright and swimming, just a little.

He pulled back only so much as required.
"That was... surprising. And wonderful."
As romantic lines went, it wasn't much of a winner, but his head was still swimming and he was doing everything he could to block out the rest of the signals he was getting from his senses. How warm she felt, the weight of her against his arm, her hand still in his hair, the scent of her so close; even the touch of her shadow over him from the light seemed to hold a presence, something tangible.

Surprising. Wonderful. Amber squeed a little inside. She gave one last sweep through his hair before she dragged her fingers down his cheek and away, to finally fall in her lap.
"It was wonderful. Thank you."
no subject
"Thank you as well."

"You taste of summer ice," he said intelligently. His cheeks went red.

He looked terribly sheepish.
"I'm sorry about that. Really, truly sorry."

"Well, er, yes. Accidentally. Not at all on purpose. And it was randomized. I didn't pick lutefisk or anything."
He looked up at her almost piteously, green eyes wide.
"I really am sorry."
no subject
Amber smiled, reached to run her finger along his jawline. "You don't have to be sorry. I got over the shock of it and it did go away." She shrugged it off. "It's no big deal and at least our first kiss was summer ice and not fish. I couldn't be more pleased."
no subject
Wait.
She'd said 'first' kiss. That usually meant there would be more than one. Usually, anyway. Your first time attempting to fly could be your last as well, after all.
"Oh. Well, I'm glad of that, then. It was a big mistake, honestly."
no subject
no subject
"Which do you think?"
no subject
"I... I think the lutefisk was a huge mistake."
Amber was sure he had no idea just how arresting his eyes could be.
no subject
"That would be the one," he said very very gently, smiling a little at the teasing.
