Second Floor Common Room - Early Saturday Afternoon

Harvey had a problem. He was hungry. You think that problem would be easy enough to solve by making food but he couldn't decide what he wanted. It was still early enough for breakfast and yet it could be considered lunch time too. He wanted eggs but he could also go for a sandwich. You would think he could just pick something and get on with it but for some reason he couldn't. He always sucked at making stupid little decisions like that.

So now he had a grilled cheese and scrambled eggs going on the stove at the same time. He figured he was hungry enough to eat both and if he wasn't, well, he figured someone else would want some. He sat himself up on the kitchen counter next to the stove, rolling his father's coin across his knuckles and waited for his food to finish cooking.

"Wouldn't surprise me," he said and shrugged. "I seem to attract mind readers around this place."

Teddy paused. "Really?"

"Two of them know me pretty well," Lee said. "And I mean that literally since they can do the mind reading thing and all."

"Weird." Teddy shook his head. "There are some back home, but I've really only met... two. And that wasn't like actually knowing them or anything."

"These are the first I've met too," Lee said, nodding. "I sometimes just wanna think about dancing naked to piss them off."

Snickering, Teddy shook his head. "That sounds like you're just asking for trouble."

"Well, yeah," Lee said and laughed. "Asking for trouble is also asking for fun."

"Not if they can make you think you're a chicken or something!" He was pretty sure Emma Frost would do something like that.

"Can they do that?" Lee asked. "Make me think different things?"

"The ones back home can," Teddy replied, nodding seriously.

Lee winced and said, "Well...maybe I'll be a little more careful if I ever see them again. Unlikely though."

"Well," Teddy said, shuffling his feet. "You still have the new mayor to be careful around."

Cable was scary even if he couldn't read your mind.

"I don't think I even knew we had a new mayor," Lee said. "He's scary?"

"He's from back home," Teddy said, nodding quickly.

"Huh." Lee made a note of that. "So...think good thoughts around him?"

"Or just--" Hide like Teddy would do. "--avoid him."

"Avoiding sounds good," Lee said, nodding. "I'm--" Short "--good at hiding!"

Like a midget he was so short!

"It's a good plan," Teddy replied, nodding seriously.

"But, if he can read minds," Lee started, "wouldn't he be able to find me?"

"Well--" Huh. That managed to escape Teddy's fanboy logic. "Maybe if you just don't attract his attention?"

"So, we gotta be good?" Not a very appealing choice but...

"I guess so." Not that Teddy had anything illegal in mind. Really. "Maybe only when it comes to the town?"

"The principal's pretty scary," Lee reminded Teddy, "but she can't read minds so that's one good thing."

"And we're seniors, so that's expected right?"

"Exactly," Lee agreed. "Gotta leave a mark or no one will remember us and that'd just be sad."
