Fourth Floor Common Room; Saturday Evening.

His weekend, Cal decided, was just going to be full of new sorts of things, and he decided to stop being lazy in his room and go down to the common room to be lazy there. The common room had the added benefit of television, and he realized that he really hadn't bothered watching much modern TV.

...After a little while of flipping through the channels (after another while of trying to figure out the remote), Cal understood why he hadn't bothered. It was a weekend of new things, but he decided that watching TV wasn't one of them, and he soon turned it off, leaving for his room and coming back with a book and his script for the play to just do some good old reading.

"I keep getting distracted and not meeting people," Romeo admitted. "I'm Romeo, anyhow. I've been here since January."

"Temari," She said, closing the gap between them to offer a hand. "I know the feeling."

He took her hand, shook it firmly and with a grin. She was cute. "So what do you find to distract yourself here, Temari?"

"Train, mostly," She replied dryly. Even if it did come with a grin at the firm handshake. "Or I find Madrox."

"Train for what?" he wondered. "Oh, I've met Jamie."

"Just to stay in fighting shape," She replied easily. "He's... unique."

"He is," Romeo agreed. "Are you a soldier at home?" He could kind of see it, he supposed.

"I am," She said slowly. "But that seems to be common here."

"it's not uncommon," he agreed. "I wouldn't have guessed it, if it were. Though I'm not one myself."

Given how nonmilitary his bearing was, the last sentence was most likely unnecessary.

He was like Jamie in that way.

"You wouldn't have thought that?" She asked, cocking her head to the side.

"It wouldn't have been the first thing I thought of at home, if you mentioned fighting and training," he explained.

His first thought, in that circumstance, would be to be very grateful he hadn't given his last name; his second would be to leave.

"How different is your home from this place?"

"Not entirely," he had to acknowledge, thinking it over. "It's 2008 there, too, and America. It's mostly cultural things that are different, culture and how we use the language. And Verona is on the ocean, but it's California so it's much warmer than here." Which Romeo approved of.

"How different is yours?"

How to explain this to people who weren't from her world. "I come from a village of ninjas."
