Fourth Floor Common Room; Saturday Evening.

His weekend, Cal decided, was just going to be full of new sorts of things, and he decided to stop being lazy in his room and go down to the common room to be lazy there. The common room had the added benefit of television, and he realized that he really hadn't bothered watching much modern TV.

...After a little while of flipping through the channels (after another while of trying to figure out the remote), Cal understood why he hadn't bothered. It was a weekend of new things, but he decided that watching TV wasn't one of them, and he soon turned it off, leaving for his room and coming back with a book and his script for the play to just do some good old reading.

Grinning, she bent to pick her up and hold her on her lap, wiggling her fingers on her thigh to play with her. "She's so cute."

"Mia...ohhh, okay," she smiled. "I'm playing Bastiana."

"I'm s-sure you'll do well," she said, smiling. "You d-did a w-wonderful job in the l-last play. I s-saw it twice."

Yei, for her part, attempted to bat at the fingers playfully.

"Aw, thanks so much, Hinata. That makes me feel great. I'm been working on memorizing my lines but it's not going so well. I've been all kinds of distracted lately. What about you?"

"It's b-become my bedtime r-reading," she admitted. "Which, r-really, means that Yei attempts to eat the s-script every night u-until I play with her. I'll h-have to s-start really memorizing it, I f-feel, outside of my r-room."

"And yet," she pointed out with a grin, "here you are outside of your room and Yei is with you." But, aw, little kitty. Amber would take her everywhere she went if she was hers.

"It a s-scheme," Hinata confessed. "In an a-attempt to tire her out so that she'll s-sleep tonight."

"Great plan," she nodded, agreeing and smiling down at the ball of fluff. "Where did you get her from?"

"In Alexandria," she said. "W-Which was my f-first time there, and I w-went alone. It was quite i-interesting, really."

"You went alone?" That surprised Amber considering the girls shyness.

"I w-wouldn't have w-wanted to bother a-anyone," she admitted. "A-And it w-wasn't so bad."

It helped that she could easily defend herself against people. Embarrassment had been her only enemy on that trip.

"I don't see how you can be much of a bother to anyone," she replied simply. "Maybe I'll buy me a kitten someday here soon. You wouldn't want to come with me, would you? Show me where you got yours?"

"I w-wouldn't mind at all," she said. "If t-that's w-what you wanted. I just... d-don't like bothering people a-and being noticed t-that way."

"Kind of shy like that, uh?" she asked, smiling. "Well, you don't have to come if you don't want. I'm still totally up in the air about a pet."

"I'm t-trying to get b-better, but yes. A-And if you d-do decide to get one, if y-you'd like, I would not m-mind helping."

"Cool," she smiled wide. "I'd like that. I've never had a pet before and I want to get something that fits me, you know? Might not even be a kitten although, aw man, she just melts my heart," she said, bringing Yei up under her chin to snuggle.

That got a bit of a grin as Yei helpfully snuggled back. "I w-was not sure about a k-kitten either," she admitted. "A-As I've more exposure to d-dogs, but I s-saw her and that was t-that."

"I imagine," Amber replied. "That just might do it for me too, the first time I see a certain animal. With my luck it'll be a hamster or something like it."

"Well," she said fairly, "at l-least a hamster would l-let you sleep at night, r-right? Rather t-than wanting to play at three in the m-morning..."

"I don't know, don't hamsters have those spinny things? I could totally have a night owl of a hamster and he'll ride that thing and party all night just to spite me," she giggled.

"T-true," she admitted, grinning a bit. "Though, t-then perhaps you j-just need a q-quieter w-wheel."

"Think they make them with silencers?" she asked, clearly amused.

"Maybe t-they do," Hinata laughed. "T-Though, it s-shouldn't be s-so hard to find o-one that doesn't s-squeak at least."

Amber giggled. "I don't want a hamster, seriously. I think they stink."
