All Around the Dorms; Thursday.

Especially after encountering Dor, Turtle realized that she had slacked off on this so inexcusably that part of her was feeling she should lose the election just because she had been so slow to the punch. She'd worry about finding that Toby fellow to revoke his remarks later, because, at the moment, a button proudly announcing her campaign, she went around the dorms, putting up her posters. They were clean, colorful posters, a medley of red, white, and blue, with great sparkling stars of glitter:

Vote T.R. Wexler
for Junior Representative

A vote Wexler is a vote for experience and determination.
The T.R. doesn't stand for 'tenacious' and 'revolutionary,' but they may as well!

Please take a pamphlet for more information about the Wexler for Representative campaign

There was an arrow on the posters pointing down to a small little paper basket built into each one, and each basket contained brochures listing all of Turtle's credentials and experience, among patriotic pictures of eagles and some gremlins to represent her love for the school. It also discussed some of her platforms, like funding for clubs, better cafeteria food (always an important one), and more events to create a deeper connection between the student and the townie populations. There was also a coupon on the back for 50% off any purchase at Turtle & Canary, some buttons for the taking, and some lollipops.

With each poster she put up, she drew in a breath and looked them over, with a faint smile of satisfaction for her work, faint under the heaviness of doubt and worry. She smoothed out the poster, made sure the basket would stay under the weight of the goodies inside of it, and told herself that she just had to keep positive and do her best, and everything would be fine.

She hoped.

[[ absolutely open! ]]

[[ETA: The posters now, thanks to Dor, will vocally encourage people to vote for Turtle when they pass by =D ]]

Marco wasn't exactly avoiding Turtle, but well, seeing her was not high on his list of things he wanted to do in the morning. "I didn't say that!" He yelped.

Marco fumbled the catch but managed to keep the box from falling. "What I said was, that you're special and that's why I'm friends with you. It's not my fault the idiot who thinks I'm short can't read." He said hotly.

Marco nodded quickly, though still not getting close enough to get kicked. "Best way. That's why we're friends."

"Seriously?" Marco asked, never lacking for confidence. But still out of kicking range.

Ella's expression when she noticed Turtle putting up the posters was a hard one to read; on the one hand, it was a nice display, and she wished the best for her former roommate. On the other, it reminded her that she'd done nothing in terms of a campaign, and, well, Turtle would be a formidable opponent.

So she just sort of stood there, reading the brochure like it was going to tell her what to do.

"Sure," Ella said, reaching for it reflexively and changing her mind even as her hand went out. "I mean, yes, I do, but I'm not sure you want to give me one. I was going to run, you see..."

Ella took the sucker, though she didn't unwrap it. "It is the democratic way," she said, almost defensively. "The best woman should win, right?"

She looked at the flier again. Turtle did have a lot more experience.

"You're very well prepared," Ned said, carefully taking a pamphlet. "This is an important thing to win?"

[identity profile] death-and-pies.livejournal.com 2008-09-18 03:30 pm (UTC)(link)
"If preparation is important, you should win," Ned said, smiling lightly. "Want me to get you some coffee or something?"

[identity profile] death-and-pies.livejournal.com 2008-09-18 04:23 pm (UTC)(link)
"Helping?" Ned hadn't ever helped something like this before. "Uh. Is there anything specific I have to do to help and not hinder? I can hinder a lot."

Amber was on her way to town when she spotted Turtle and all her campaignery goodness. "Hi, Turtle!"

[identity profile] minnesota-teen.livejournal.com 2008-09-18 03:34 pm (UTC)(link)
"It's going great and no, I didn't get a sucker," she said, grinning cheerfully. "You seem to have it all together, Turtle. Not that I would doubt anything less from you."

[identity profile] minnesota-teen.livejournal.com 2008-09-18 04:16 pm (UTC)(link)
"If I could vote for you I would," she nodded firmly. "But since I can't, I can support your efforts."
