Shooting Range, Tuesday evening

Momoko was at the shooting range again; this time she was waiting on Lion-o. She was ready to learn how to shoot a gun and this time Rikku was gonna be there to help teach them! Yay for Big Sibs!

The only reason Momoko wasn't bouncing in place was that she was bouncing to and from the door waiting for Rikku and Lion-o to show up.

[Range is open: Momoko is waiting for Lion-o and Rikku, but there's room for other people in here, from what I can see]

Lion-o was grinning from ear-to-ear as he entered the shooting range. "I'm glad you found someone who can help us learn how to shoot!" he said.

"I thought about going to that store and asking if they could show me, but I wasn't sure if they'd tell me that kids weren't allowed," said Lion-o. "I'm sure that's what Panthro would have told me if I asked for help with a weapon back home."

"We have some laser weapons at home, but nothing similar to the projectile-weapons we used in class," said Lion-o, pulling out safety gear for both of them. "It will be good for me to learn something that they don't know about at home."

Rikku peered into the range, looking for -- yup! The little sib. "Hiya," she grinned. "Brought my Glock. I don't use it enough, I end up throwing bombs or just slashing with one of my claws, you know? So! How do we wanna do this?"

"Hi Rikku! Thanks for helping us," said Lion-o. He was nearly as bouncy as Momoko.

"No problem! Hiya to you, too." They could all be bouncy. Hopefully no one had any sugar. "I never took hunting, but Mr. Winchester taught us how to fix cars, which rocked. Glasses?"

Rikku didn't know people had safety restrictions, for playing with weapons.

"And all my training has been with swords. I haven't used guns before, and Mr. Winchester suggested that it would be good for me to learn," added Lion-o.

"Ear protection?" Rikku was going to stare at the glasses and ear plugs. "Really? How are they thinking you're gonna get hit in the ears?"

Cluemeter reading: 0.

"Guns are handy because then you've got range," she explained. "I mean, swords and claws are great, but then you have to get up close to use them, which means you'd better be fast or you'd better be able to take a hit. Bombs are good for range, too, but they're way harder to keep to a controlled area."

She pulled her Glock out, frowning at the glasses and ear plugs. "I probably should, huh? Safety and ... whatever?"

"We have some laser weapons at home, but they don't shoot salt like we were using in class," said Lion-o. "And the sword is only handy in close quarters, but I'd rather not get that close to a ghost."

"A yo-yo?" Rikku grinned. "Seriously? That's pretty sweet. I knew someone who used a blitz ball, just added some spikes on it, and he'd bounce it off fiends' heads. You guys are shooting salt?"

She was missing something, here. In the meantime, she was going to hold out her Glock.

"Okay. Uh. Here's something important? The safety. That's ... you wanna keep that flipped on, so that if you bump the gun while you're not aiming it to fire, it doesn't just go off. I mean. You shouldn't bump guns anyway, but this is ... a safety measure."

Hence the name.

Lion-o also took a closer look. "Safety, good. Guns going off accidentally, bad."

"I'll ... remember the salt thing," Rikku nodded. "Regular salt? Seriously? Like, the kind you put on fries?"

[identity profile] lordofthecats.livejournal.com 2008-10-01 04:39 am (UTC)(link)
"Salt and iron are supposed to disrupt ghosts," said Lion-o. "Not that I've dealt with a lot of ghosts before. But bullets should be more useful when I'm up against Plundarr mutants at home."

Rikku shook her head. "Our ... dead aren't like yours," she said, shrugging. "I mean, you don't have Summoners, here, you know? It's ... a long story."

She pulled the magazine out, explaining how to load and unload the gun, and gave a quick onceover of all the useful bits. Not that there were many, but still, she liked talking about her Glock.

"You bet it is," Rikku said cheerfully. She held the handgun out to her little sib. "You want to try it? It doesn't bite or anything. Honest."
the_merriest: (aha)

"Very similar," Rikku grinned. "Less of a kick. That bit's nice. Some of those shotguns just nail you in the shoulder."
