Second Floor Common Room, Wednesday Evening

Tony wasn't aware of the movie showing at the gym and so didn't have to make the heart-wrenching choice between Space Battles and Lee Nicholas.

Yes, it was Wednesday at 9 pm, time for Darkest Night again. This week, Raymond Dark and his mortal sidekick James Taylor Grant would uncover an ancient conspiracy of cartographers. Tony had popcorn and soda.

[Open to all!]

Liir was heading down the stairs to go out for a bit when he noticed Tony sitting in the second floor common room. Deciding that he'd make at least as good company as the tree he'd been heading for, Liir made his way into the room.

"Good evening."

"Well enough," he told Tony as he pointed to the couch. Could he?

"And yourself?"

He looked over at Tony.

"Will you be terribly amazed that I actually tried the television by myself and found something to watch?" he said as he flopped onto the couch.

"I found a show (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iron_Chef) that has cooking competitions based on a single ingredient in a great arena with all manner of utensils and ingredients. It was brilliant."

Hopefully, Tony could appreciate it even if Ino hadn't.

He nodded almost too fast.

"I saw the battle with the peppers," he said cheerfully. "That was the first one. Then the one with the salmon. There was one I couldn't watch," the piglet battle, for reasons he didn't want to think on "but I'm sure it was fine. The Chinese chef tends to be more impressive than people expect."

He turned his head to glance at the screen.

"What's this, then?"

[identity profile] new-to-liirness.livejournal.com 2008-10-02 03:49 am (UTC)(link)
He raised an eyebrow.

"I'll try my best. Though I don't see why you think I wouldn't like it, other than the obvious."

Really, he grew up reading romance novels. As long as no one does anything disturbing with a Horse, he'll be all right.

"What's good?" he asked with a shrug.

"As long as it keeps people entertained for as long as it takes, then it's worth something. Anything beyond that is fluff."

[identity profile] new-to-liirness.livejournal.com 2008-10-02 04:05 am (UTC)(link)
"Well, I can't say until I see it," he admitted.

"And I'm sure your mark is on it somewhere."

He grinned.

"It's a very nice fish tank. We had a fishwell but that was quite another thing entirely."

And it spoke to his comfort with the other boy that he could mention it without twitching.

"A well kept at the base of the keep where fish could be kept fresh. They'd flow in from the mountain streams at times. Some of them... remarkably big."

The great goldfish flashed into his memory and he pushed it away. She had no power, not now, and never really.

"Animals kept for decoration?"

Well, he'd seen something like that in the Emerald City. That poor Tiger chained up in front of the manor house...

At least there were no Fish to his knowledge.

"Useful enough," he said, moving on quickly, "not my favorite place, really."

[identity profile] new-to-liirness.livejournal.com 2008-10-02 04:54 am (UTC)(link)
He shrugged.

"I've never seen anything particularly pretty about a fish, but I suppose to each their own."

As the land of Oz was landlocked, he'd never seen any of the fantastic fish found in coral reefs or anysuch.

"Oh?"

That would be pretty.

"With bright scales?"
