Third floor common room- Monday afternoon

Buffy had seen the posters for the matchmaking thing, and pretty quickly decided against it. When you had to send the boyfriend who'd stalked you and killed your friends to hell, it kind of made the thought of getting a date for the dance a little less important. Not that she wouldn't go. And not that she wouldn't look fantastic, dammit.

So instead, she was sitting in the common room in front of What Not to Wear and suddenly wondering if Stacy and Clinton would say her homecoming dress made her look hippy.

With her figure? Never!

Wandering down to the common room, Teddy poked his head in at the sound of people picking someone's fashion apart at the thought it might be Chad watching. Even though he was at work.

No one said he was logical.

"Oh. Hello."

"Hey," Buffy greeted him, looking up. "Did you know a pointy-toed shoe makes you look taller? And I thought I wouldn't learn anything at school."

Teddy looked down at his own sneaker clad feet. "Really?"

"Apparently," she said with a nod. "With everything you see on TV being true and all."

Smiling, Teddy shook his head. "Like how Supers is true?"

"You know, I think it could be," Buffy said, totally seriously. "After all, welcome to Fandom."

"But keeping that kinda think a secret," Teddy replied. "That doesn't sound too likely."

"Oh, I don't know. I think it could happen. It'd just take some work, and maybe some talent." Not that she knew anything about that.

"How often they use them?" Teddy asked. "I don't know..."

"People can repress a lot," Buffy shrugged. "If something happens they don't want to see or believe, oh look, totally didn't happen. It was all swamp gas, or a trick of the light."

That might have been a nice world to live in there. "Really? Weird stuff happens back home, it's in all the papers."

"Really? What kind of weird stuff?" She kind of wanted to see one of their papers now.

"Like... alien invasion, cosmic entities coming to eat the planet, mutant protest groups." Teddy shrugged. "Those kinds of things."

Buffy gaped a little. "Okay, that might be a little harder to hide from the public..."

Teddy nodded like it was no big deal. "You kinda get used to it."

"You get used to cosmic entities and planet-eating?"

"Yeah, pretty much." When it happened more than once, there was little else you could do. "It's not like it happens all the time or anything."

"Either way, you totally win," she decided. Planet-eating was comparable to world-destroying until you thought about it again and remembered it meant eating a planet.

"My home's kinda weird," Teddy admitted sheepishly.

"At least it doesn't sound boring? Silver lining..."

Teddy nodded. "Sorry. I'm Teddy. Have we met before?" She looked oddly familiar.

"Not that I know of?" she said. "I'm Buffy." And then she waited to see if that rang any bells.

It did. "Did you leave here for a while or something?"

Buffy sighed, getting sort of used to this. "Two different other mes went to this school before the present me. You want an identity crisis, I'm your girl."

"Oh, man. That's gotta suck." Teddy gave her a small smile he hoped was encouraging. "At least you don't have to worry about people not knowing you?"
