Third floor common room- Monday afternoon

Buffy had seen the posters for the matchmaking thing, and pretty quickly decided against it. When you had to send the boyfriend who'd stalked you and killed your friends to hell, it kind of made the thought of getting a date for the dance a little less important. Not that she wouldn't go. And not that she wouldn't look fantastic, dammit.

So instead, she was sitting in the common room in front of What Not to Wear and suddenly wondering if Stacy and Clinton would say her homecoming dress made her look hippy.

"Well, twice now. I was actually kinda pretty!"

She studied him and said, "I can see that. But doesn't it freak you out?"

"Not after the first time," Teddy replied. "You kinda start to get desensitized to the stuff here after so long. This is my third year here."

"And you haven't had a double yet in all that time?" she asked, smiling a little. "Weirdo."

Teddy snorted. "I know, what's my problem?"

"You still have some time to go in the semester, you know," Buffy said. "All hope is not lost."

"We could call my double Tad!"

"I kind of feel like he should have a handlebar mustache for some reason," she said thoughtfully. "I don't know why."

"And maybe a cape?" Teddy suggested.

"Only if he uses it for dramatic exits." Buffy might have paid too much attention to the Space Battles movie last week.

"Is there any other way to have a cape?" So maybe a cape had been in his initial plans for a costume.

Don't judge him.

"I'm sure someone's done it," she said, and gestured to the TV. "I mean, really."

"But the billowy thing," Teddy said. "That's like, the coolest thing you can do with a cape. Anything else is just pointless!"

"Maybe they don't know how to carry themselves in a cape," Buffy tried. "Bad posture ruins a lot of things."

He'd never actually seen a villain with bad posture...

"It might make them look more dangerous, you never know."

"It might. But I know some people who just couldn't pull it off." Strangely, Jonathan sprung to mind immediately.

"You have to be just the right level of sinister, I think."

"You know, I don't think I like this Tad," she mused.

"He's a very evil man," Teddy replied. "He, like, kicks puppies."

Oh hey, so did her ex, kinda. "Let's hope he doesn't show, or he'll have to be Dealt With."

"We could hit him really hard." That was always a good plan, right?

"Ooh, I'm good with blunt objects. Let's do that."

"I have a cricket bat!"

She wasn't sure whether or not to keep a straight face as she said, "Really?"

"My big brother when I first came here gave it to me," Teddy replied cheerfully.
