The first floor lobby, Thursday afternoon

Jan had just wanted to stretch his legs, so he'd gone for a gallop. He'd been innocently minding his own business when he'd been struck by a whirling flurry of rocks.

It had seemed to chase after him as he'd bolted across the grounds, and no matter how he'd dodged and ducked, he hadn't been able to avoid them. As it turned out, he would have been better off simply holding still until it had passed.

Why?

Because his wild gyrations had ensured that, instead of being a single solid colour, he was liberally splashed with colours of all kinds.

Rainbow unicorn.

He bolted into the lobby to get away from it, and was now standing at the doors, staring out at the suddenly clear skies, and making disgusted faces at his reflection.

[Open, yup.]

Passing through between one club or another, Turtle couldn't help gasping with all sorts of embarrassing glee, practically even forgetting that she was pink.

"Jan!"

[identity profile] stocksgrrl.livejournal.com 2008-10-16 11:43 pm (UTC)(link)
"And you're so pretty!"

It practically came out as one squeal of a word.

[identity profile] stocksgrrl.livejournal.com 2008-10-16 11:53 pm (UTC)(link)
"I know," Turtle nodded, "that's what turned me pink, but you got much better colors!"

She was watching that mane fall forward with big, big eyes, like a kid looks at Christmas presents under the tree one the day before, fingers poised in wanting to touch, but knowing too much decorum to just reach out and do it.

Turtle's attempt to restrain her bouncing made her practically vibrate as she reached out to play with all the pretty, pretty rainbow colored hair with her fingers with a happy, contented little, "Yaaaay."

She couldn't help it; the unicorn just did strange, strange things to her.

Like making her giggle. Which she now did before she said, "I know, but it wasn't this obvious before. Blech."

"I was a pony once," Turtle informed Jan, in a happy little bubble of joy playing with pretty, pretty rainbow mane. "I was green. That's my favorite color; it's much better than pink."

Turtle rubbed Jan's nose affectionately. "If I'm ever a pony again, you so owe me frollicking in a field."

[identity profile] stocksgrrl.livejournal.com 2008-10-17 01:21 am (UTC)(link)
"There are some nice clearings in the preserve," Turtle said with a nod. "That's where Jeff and I went frollicking when we turned into horses. It's kind of sad you weren't around for that; maybe you'd have turned into a person for the day!"

[identity profile] stocksgrrl.livejournal.com 2008-10-17 01:50 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh, it's not that hard," Turtle mused; at some point, she had somehow managed to work her fingers back into Jan's mane and started braiding it a little. She was barely even conscious of such actions. "And it would only be for a little bit before you turned back into yourself."

[identity profile] stocksgrrl.livejournal.com 2008-10-17 02:19 am (UTC)(link)
"Well, gee, Jan," Turtle muttered wryly, teasing him lightly, "way to keep yourself open to new experiences there."

[identity profile] stocksgrrl.livejournal.com 2008-10-17 02:41 am (UTC)(link)
"And I like having normal colored human skin," Turtle said. "It's only for a bit, though, and then back to normal."

[identity profile] stocksgrrl.livejournal.com 2008-10-17 02:44 am (UTC)(link)
For some reason, Turtle blushed a little at that. Not that it mattered, because she was already pink all over.

"Well, humans don't really...run together, though, Jan."

[identity profile] stocksgrrl.livejournal.com 2008-10-17 03:14 am (UTC)(link)
"No, we run!" Turtle said, nodding emphatically. "Just not like...you know...horses run. But we can run if you're a human! Promise."

Dor came in out of the rain with a skin tone of red and orange. He seemed to be enjoying it actually.

And then he saw a multi-colored uniform and got excited!

"Hi!" he said looking happy. "Are you a friend of Jan's? He'll be so happy to know you're here!"

[identity profile] talks2objects.livejournal.com 2008-10-17 12:45 am (UTC)(link)
Dor made a face.

"Um. Okay. Can we just erase the last eight seconds so I don't feel dumb?"

[identity profile] talks2objects.livejournal.com 2008-10-17 01:03 am (UTC)(link)
"I did!" Dor laughed and pushed some hair off his face. "It reminds me a little of some of the hailstorms back home in Xanth. Except it doesn't make you change colors and you can get hurt if you don't find cover."

[identity profile] talks2objects.livejournal.com 2008-10-17 01:20 am (UTC)(link)
Dor chuckled and went to scratch Jan behind his ears. "Our technicolor hailstorms were different colors," Dor admitted. "But that's the only similarity. I guess i just like it when some of this things happens because it reminds me of home. Unless I don't change color because I don't think I look good in red and orange."

[identity profile] talks2objects.livejournal.com 2008-10-17 01:55 am (UTC)(link)
"You look like a rainbow," Dor chuckled. "It's actually quite handsome."

[identity profile] talks2objects.livejournal.com 2008-10-17 02:16 am (UTC)(link)
"Well that's kind of the same thing," Dor grinned. "I take it you'd rather have your own black coat back?"

[identity profile] talks2objects.livejournal.com 2008-10-17 02:46 am (UTC)(link)
"You should use it to your advantage," Dor said with a nod. "And convince people you're someone else."

[identity profile] talks2objects.livejournal.com 2008-10-17 03:54 am (UTC)(link)
"It could!" He snickered. "You could say you're Jan's friend and that you're here for a visit."
