Fifth Floor Common Room, Early Afternoon Monday

Hurley worked on his baking, this time with an attempt to make some double-chocolate fudge brownies with M&Ms baked in.

He was nothing if not ambitious.

Hurley had the radio on and did a little dance as he mixed batter to the tunes of Stillwater.

Clasping her hands together in front of her, Penelope glowed. "That's wonderful! You deserved a special night after so much time devoted to making sure others could as well. It was my first dance and I was exceptionally pleased."

"You hadn't been to a dance before you came here?" Angela asked.

She shook her head and managed to look shy all over again. "No. I was homeschooled before coming here and not able to attend any sort of social function like a dance." Or anything at all, really.

"At least you're getting that chance now you're here?" Angela offered. Not being able to go out would be one thing she definitely wouldn't enjoy.

"Yes, I am," she replied softly. "I seem to be coming out, little by little." She reached up, touched her nose. "Claire, among others, helped me see that I don't need to hide here. I will admit, the need to do so does creep up on me more than once throughout my day."

"Sweetie, you have absolutely no reason to hide," Angela promised her with a little smile.

Penelope blushed and gave her the kindest of smiles. "You're very nice to say so, Angela. You have such a perfect little nose. It's very cute."

Angela wriggled her nose a little. She hadn't honestly thought of it that way, but often you don't when it's your own.

"Yours is pretty adorable too," she said. "And unique, which isn't a bad thing."

"I kind of have ears to match," Penelope giggled, caught up in their easy conversation and Angela's engaging demeanor. "See?" She lifted her hair to show off the little flap of her piggy ear.

"Aww." Angela beamed. "You know, when I was little, I always thought elfy pointed ears would be kind of awesome. I may have wanted to be a fairy for a little while there."

"I love fairies," she admitted. "I have little figurines of them in my room. Growing up, I had nothing more to do with my time that play make believe and fairies are so lovely." She smiled. "Maybe all little girls think similarly about such things."
