3rd Floor Common Room - Sunday Evening

Chuck had managed to roll out of bed before it started to get dark outside. That was pretty good considering he was exhausted. It felt like he made out with the entire town or something yesterday. He shuffled down to the common room in his smoking jacket of brooding robe and was sprawled out on the couch, scotch in hand. The Food Network Thanksgiving specials were blaring on the TV. Mmm turkey.

Given the way she'd woken up this morning, Buffy'd kind of spent today in a bad mood. Which was why when she came to the common room, she spent a moment looking at the TV before deciding, "That's acceptable."

Toby lived on the third floor, so it was like, natural for him to gravitate toward that common room, clad in a scarf and pants.

He perched on the arm of a chair. "Dude, I love Rachel Ray! She is so funny!"

"I'm glad you approve," Chuck replied, even though he had no idea who this girl was. Whatever, she was cute. Making cute girls happy was in his job description.

"You cannot be serious," Chuck said. God, the disrespect Toby was showing his scarf was enough to make Chuck bitchface. "Rachel Ray is an annoying hag."

That said, he'd totally tap that.

Penelope wanted a glass of milk to go with her Ho-Ho's, so she shuffled down the hall from her room and stepped into the common room, heading for the kitchen area.

"Oh, hello," she said to the guy in a robe. Unusual, but not uncommon she suspected.

"Wow, you really know how to spend a Sunday in style," Angela remarked with a little laugh.

"So'm I. You know, people don't take kindly to me telling them to change the channel?" she asked, taking a seat on one of the chairs. "I know, it mystifies me too."

Buffy may have headtilted. "Nice ensemble," she said, for lack of a better icebreaker.

"Hi," Chuck said, giving the girl a momentary glance. His expression didn't change when he looked at her. He had seen bad nose jobs before. It was a shame. She looked like a pretty girl.

"What can I say? If it's good enough for Hef, it's good enough for me," Chuck said, sitting up so he could give Angela room to sit on the couch.

"I'm totes serious," Toby argued. "I love the way she uses cute little acros!"

Toby flicked one end of his scarf over his shoulder. "Keeps me nice a warm. You have nice hair."

She usually judged by facial expressions, just how she would be recieved; it was nice that he didn't seem repulsed by her. After pouring herself a glass of milk, she walked over and sat down in a chair, adjacent to the couch, looking at the TV. "I'm Penelope," she said after a moment, glancing back to him.

Angela smirked, taking a seat in the space he'd created. "Nice role model," she said. "Not the normal choice."

"You don't say? I find that hard to believe," Chuck said. "For the record, I would have totally changed the channel if you asked me to."

The last time Buffy had seen Penelope, there'd been a scarf involved. Trying not to draw attention to the fact that she looked slightly different, Buffy greeted her with, "Long time, no see."

Chuck took a healthy swig of his scotch. "I don't know why she can't just say olive oil."

"Hi, Buffy," Penelope smiled, not thinking about her scarf at all. "Yes, I know. I was a... piglet for a whole week."

"And if I'd made you watch click flicks, preferrably something from the Sandra Bullock heydey?" she asked immediately.

"Chuck," he said, giving her a small smile. A girl was a girl, no matter what her nose looked like. "I haven't seen you around before. You live on this floor?"

"Penelope!" Toby exclaimed, going to say hi to his friend. He wore a bright smile and a scarf to keep him warm. No shirt, that would take away from his glitter-lotioned chest.

"Nice to meet you, Chuck," she replied politely. "Yes, I do. Room 332. I'm working on socializing more."

"Because E-V-O-O sounds way cooler," Toby enthused. "When is that hot dude's show on? You know, the nude dude."

"Thanks," she said, pleased. No, she didn't. Whatever she did to her hair was not good. At all. "The scarf's really all it takes? Huh. Live and learn."

"Toby!" she said, giving her fake brother a bright smile. "You look..." she eyed the scarf, the pants, the sparkly chest, "...nicely festive!"
