Second floor common room, Wednesday afternoon

With the Food Network on for noise and inspiration, Brooke was cooking.

No, seriously. There was food in the process of being prepared, and she was all cute in her apron and everything. The food would probably even be edible when it was all done. She'd sort of taken up the whole kitchen with stuff that needed to go into the oven, things that needed to get saran wrapped and put in the fridge, and cookies that were already done and waiting to be eaten and shared because she wasn't very good with self-control. Look, you had to get the important stuff done first.

Chuck had been looking for a common room where food was being made and, lucky him, he only had to go down one flight of stairs to find it. He was surprised to see Brooke with the apron on, however.

"I didn't know you could cook," he said, not bothering to hide his surprise. "You don't seem like the type."

"I know, isn't it neat?" she said, just a little happy about not failing at this. "The smoke detector's only gone off once."

Chad had a little bit before he was going to head into town to bring Teddy dinner, so he and Prince Oscar Pedro were wandering around, and neither of them could resist following their noses a little.

"This stuff for tomorrow?"

"Yep! Except the cookies. That's for today," Brooke said. "Wanna try one?" She'd probably improved since last time she made them.

"Bravo," he said, offering her a little golf clap. "Are you getting a head start on the holiday or is this stuff for now?"

He had priorities, yes.

"The cookies are for now," she said, gesturing to the plate. "The rest is for tomorrow. The cheerleaders are doing Thanksgiving so I kind of want it to be home made. Or dorm made. Common room-made, whatever."

"Sure," Chad said, never one to refuse free food, especially not from a sibling. Even if they were terrible, he'd still eat another just to make Brooke feel good. "Need any help with anything else?"

"I need onions chopped and really don't want to do it," she said sweetly.

Robin was trying very hard to not get into the Christmas spirit until after Thanksgiving. It wasn't easy as the Christmas music kept wanting to get stuck in his head.

If only there were more thanksgiving songs.

"Hi!" Robin waved to Brooke when he came in. "Do you need any help?"

"Cheerleaders and Thanksgiving food? I'm there," Chuck said, grabbing a cookie. "God, I've never been more glad that my dad is spending the holiday overseas."

"I'm on it," Chad said, lifting a thumb in a thumbs up. "After I have a cookie, anyway."

"See, you were meant to come and hang out and spend you holiday with hotties," Brooke nodded.

"Well, you have to have priorities," Brooke allowed. "Are you sticking around for the weekend?"

"I consider it an early Christmas gift. I have been a very good boy this year," he said. He hesitantly took a bite of a cookie. "These are pretty good."

"M'not American," Chad reminded her, picking out a cookie. "Not my holiday, so I don't really have anywhere to go. So, yeah. What about you?"

She beamed, and then said, "If you're just saying that to give me warm fuzzies, just remember that it's going to lead to me making more of the exact same cookies, so if they suck, tell me before I food poison the school."

"I didn't really feel like going home," she admitted. She wasn't sure her parents would even care either way. "At least if I stay here, I'm being productive, so productive it is."

Jess didn't have anywhere else to be for the holidays - well, he could go home, but that would involve meeting his mother's boyfriend, so it wasn't really an option at all - and he was trying not to let himself get too annoyed about that by not just moping in his room. The smell of food cooking drew him into the common room, and he smirked when he saw who was doing the cooking.

"Aren't you getting busy a day early?" he asked.

"Uhhh." Honestly, she wasn't sure how it would work. Could he hold regular knives? What would happen if he like got cranberry juice on him? Would it just soak in and he'd have to be laundered? She didn't think she wanted to know. "You can try a cookie?"

"Oh, I wish," Brooke said. And paused. "Wait, that wasn't an innuendo, was it? Yeah, I have a lot of cooking to do and if I wait till tomorrow I will be insane and making cheerleaders to cry as I cracked the whip at them, so I'm starting early."

"As funny as it would be to see certain peers of mine spending the holiday with their head in the toilet--" Dean. "--I'm being one-hundred percent sincere."

"Then thank you for being my cookie guinea pig," Brooke smiled. "And while you're here, I can put you to work. Mwahaha."
