Second Floor Common Room, Wednesday Evening

Last week's Darkest Night had been a rerun due to American Thanksgiving. Which Tony found somewhat annoying. Everyone knew the real Thanksgiving had been last month. For a value of "everyone" that consisted of Canadians. But still.

This week's episode was new, though, so Tony made a bag of popcorn and settled in his usual spot on the couch.

In a terribly shocking turn of events, two wolves sauntered in to the room just as the show was about to start.

"Why was there none last week?" Firekeeper asked in place of an actual greeting.

"Some American holiday," Tony said.

"Giving thanks?" Firekeeper remembered. Well, sort of.

"Yeah, it's basically a harvest festival," Tony said. "Do you have those where you're from?"

"Hawk Haven have festival for each month," Firekeeper offered. "This time, just before turning of season to winter, is Ox Moon. One of many things celebrated is harvest."

"Every month? Neat," Tony said. "What do you do at your festivals?"

"Dancing!" Firekeeper grinned. "And much food." It's entirely possible there were other things too, but those were the ones she paid attention too.

"Good festivals!" Tony grinned. "Do you ever go back home for holidays?"

Firekeeper shook her head. "Am not knowing the way back," she said. "Derian come, for visit, but when he go back I try and follow and forest not let me."

"I'm not going back either," Tony said. "I know the way, but it's too expensive. Guess we can do Christmas here."

"What is?"

"What? Oh, Christmas? It's our, uh," Tony considered. "I guess you'd call it our mid-winter holiday? It's the biggest one of the year."

"Is there dancing?" she asked hopefully. "Music?"

"Tons of music," Tony said. "I guess there's dancing at parties but not so much with the church stuff."

"Church?" Even if she *had* been raised human, Hawk Haven didn't have much in the way of religion, so the concept was completely foreign to her.

"Church," Tony said. Where to start? "Do you believe in God?"

Firekeeper snorted and shook her head. "Royal Beasts is not having gods. Not most humans either, except..." she trailed off.

Tony raised his eyebrows and gave her a questioning look.

"There is a country called Liglim. Humans, and Beasts too- yarimaimalom," she used the Liglimosh word, "they is believing in gods there."

"Okay," Tony said, relieved he didn't have to explain the concept of "god" from scratch, at least. "So a church is where you go to worship God."

"Like Liglim is having temples?" because of course Tony would know the answer to that.

He knew the word "temple" at least. "Yeah," he said. "Probably."

"Which god, then, is this church being for?" Firekeeper asked.

"We just call him God," Tony said.

"But god of what?"
