School Grounds - Wednesday Night

Emmett had been a little wary about eating a deer that was that weird greenish color, but he couldn't resist trying something new. He figured that worse comes to worse at least it wouldn't kill him. They hadn't been hard at all to catch and Emmett found them to be sweeter than most deer, if not entirely satisfying. Still, he hadn't been trying to fill himself up. He was just trying to tide himself over until he could leave during the weekend to hunt something bigger.

He walked up to the school grounds from the preserve, his face looking more flushed than usual and picking teal fur out of his teeth. What'd he do for a toothpick right about now.

[Open. The fact that Emmett has been hunting is NFB. No actual teal deer were harmed in the writing of this post]

The cooler (colder, even) weather of the east both made Sookie wish for the relative warmth of Bon Temps, and grateful and pleased to show off her new winter coat. And in a bout of restlessness, she'd decided to go for a walk this evening, still trying to learn her way around the grounds.

"Emmett?" she called when she spotted him. It was either him or a bear or something, and if it was a bear, she had bigger problems.

"Walking," she said honestly. More importantly, walking outside without other people, so she could hear her own thoughts for once. "Just needed some fresh air. You?"

"You don't know the half of it," she said with a small smile, poking out to see if she could hear him, again. Still nothing. It was so weird. "What's your roommate like?"

"Lucky!" Sookie said, genuinely envious. "Mine's been real respectful and sweet. His last roommate was a terrorist, though."

Sookie actually laughed at that little slip. It was like listening to Jason. "It really, really is. I mean, I...it's a lot different from my last school, that way. People are so accepting here."

"Aww, if scaring them worked, there wouldn't be a single rumor about me floating around," she said, laughing. "I've tried that a few times. It's fun, but it just makes them bitchier. 'Scuse my language."

"Maybe," she said, shrugging. "Can't fault people for being scared of what they don't understand."

She eyed him. "Aren't you cold?"

"Does it snow there?" she wondered. "I've never seen it before."

She shook her head, smiling at his reaction. "Nuh uh. We sometimes get some frost, but that's 'bout it, at least as long as I've been alive. I mean, I guess we can hope for some here?"

She shook her head. "Just kind of familiarizing myself. I think better outside. But if you want to walk with me, I'm not saying no." Besides, it's not like she could hear him anyway. She still got her mental break.

"Yep," Sookie said, nodding easily and shoving her hands in her pockets. "His name's Worf. He offered to put up a divider but I grew up with a brother who has no concept of modesty. Doesn't bother me at all."

"Or hear them," she commented lightly. "People here aren't all that shy."

Not that it'd stop her if they were, but still, there were a lot of really loud broadcasters here.

"Really?" she asked, tilting her head. "Does he ever hear anything interesting?"

And okay, maybe she was fishing. She'd found four other psychic-types so far. That was four more than she'd ever met.
