Fourth Floor Common Room [evening]

Given that it was far too cold for her to venture outside tonight, Sookie had curled up on the couch and turned on the television.

Unfortunately for anyone who might have wanted to watch anything else, she discovered a VH1 marathon of I Love the New Millenium.

Sure, she was still off a year, but she'd be spending the evening catching up on what she'd missed since 1999. At some point she grabbed herself some ice cream. Just because it was cold outside didn't mean anything. So there.

"Hey Sookie," Emmett said cheerfully when he came into the common room. "Whatcha watchin'?"

"Hi, Emmett," she said with a wave. "I'm learning about the ten years I'm missing. I kind of want an iPod."

"Hey there big guy." Toby liked that he had to move his head to see all of this one. New semesters were so great for bringing new, hot dudes.

Toby wandered upstairs in search of entertainment and hot boys. Or even entertainment with hot boys. There was always hope. He was sporting an open button-down shirt that exposed his sparkling chest nicely.

"Ooh, I love this show. Have you seen the one with the guys from Queer Eye yet?"

"What's a Queer Eye?" Sookie wondered, trying not to stare at the new boy's chest. It wasn't that she didn't see half-clothed boys all the time at home. It was just an odd setting for one.

Hoshi only meant to run into the common room and grab something from the fridge, but she lingered on seeing one of the new kids. "Anything good on TV?" she asked.

"I'm just catching up on ten years of pop culture," Sookie told her with an almost embarrassed little smile. "Probably not all that interesting to most people."

Blind Seer had gone hunting in the preserve, and for once, Firekeeper had declined to join him.

Instead, she was poking her head into common rooms. When she found actual people in this one, her head was quickly followed by the rest of her as she wandered in and found a place to sit.

"Hi!" Sookie said, waving happily at the new girl. "Are you new to the school too?"

Emmett had smelled Blysse come in, rather than see her. She hadn't brought the wolf in with her but she still reeked of dog.

Still, that didn't mean Emmett would give himself away when she sat down. "Hi."

Marco was bored. A bored Marco was not a good thing. "Girl with food!" He said as he walked in.

"Others tend to call me Sookie, but sure, that works," Sookie said, raising her brows.

Brooke was on the hunt for people, and oh look there they were. Which was why they got the greeting, "Hi, dormmates, what are we watching?"

"I Love the New Millenium. We're on 2002 now," Sookie told her, letting her shields relax a little. "Hi, Ja -- you're not Jaina." Yeah, her mental blocking went right back up. She tilted her head at the other girl.

Zayne needed a break from his room. He was used to simplistic living quarters. Neutral colors, no decorations, nothing spectacular at all. But the colors in the room... the colors...

So he needed some time outside. And this was the first time he saw a TV in use. It seemed pretty primitive compared to holos, but there wasn't anything wrong with that. "Good evening," he said as he looked to take a seat. "What's on?"

"It's a show about the pop culture of the last eight years," Sookie told him with a bright smile. "I'm catching up."

"Am not really understanding most of it, so I cannot say," Firekeeper admitted.

More cute, even if his clothes could use some help. Or removal, Toby was beyond picky these days.

Temari looked over at the new boy, sizing him up maybe. "You're the other T.A."

It might have been considered an accusation if she had bothered to put any sort of emotion into her tone.

Dean wandered in, glanced at the tv and then at what Sookie was eating. "What flavour?" he asked curiously.

"Chocolate chip," she told him cheerfully. "There's more in the freezer. Should still be soft enough to get into."

Peering into the room, Temari was maybe more interested in the sweet snow than anything else.

...so maybe she had developed one hell of a sweet tooth since coming here. Madrox's fault.

"Hi!" Sookie said, waving over. "Wanna come watch some pop culture with us?"

Claudia'd taken all day coming up with her outfit, so she'd wandered around until she'd found a room full of people to show it off to: gold, purple and fuscia plaid pants held up with cerulean suspenders, a hot pink tank top and a burnt sienna vest.

Her feet were covered with bright yellow Doc Martens and her hair was done up like the girl in Space Battles. The one where she looked like she was wearing a basket on her head. She'd paired the whole look with a restrained pair of silver hoop earrings. On anyone else, it was would completely insane. On Claudia, it was great.

Brooke took one look at Claudia and tried not to burst into tears.

The sound of the television caught Sam's attention enough to get him into the common room, but it was seeing someone eating ice cream that kept him there. "Are you trying to make yourself colder?" he asked.

"Hey, it's warm in here!" Sookie pointed out with a smile. "I can afford the luxury of ice cream."

The low numbers at work showed Turtle that she clearly needed to network more and, drifting toward the fourth floor common room, at least found out where a good deal of people had been hiding.

"Whoa," she commented, impressed, "full house tonight."

"I know. I think turning on the TV is like turning on a porch light for moths," Sookie commented. "Hi!"
