Second Floor Common Room, Saturday Evening

Tony had the DVD for Harry V and a box full of doughnuts from J, GOB, because he couldn't think of any good reason to not have doughnuts for dinner. He put the movie in and flopped down on the couch with the remote.

"Yep, that'd do it." Priestly grinned back. "So you've been here a little while, huh? What brought you?"

"I found out I was a wizard, so this seemed like a good place to go," Tony said. Which was the truth, even if it was leaving some pretty big chunks out. "How about you?"

"I set fire to my khakis on the back lawn and almost burned down my mom's garden. She thought this place might 'straighten me out'. You're a wizard?"

Tony laughed. "Cool. And yep. Well, I'm learning."

"Is it something anybody can learn? Or are you, like, born with magic powers?"

[wantstodirect]

"You have to be born with, like, an ability for it," Tony said. "But you might not know it. I didn't know, until last summer."

"What happened last summer?"

[wantstodirect]

"I met another wizard and I kinda helped her with some stuff," Tony said. If the guy was still skeptical about squirrel radio, Tony wasn't sure how he'd take homicidal shadows.

Priestly figured the vague was a sign of "he doesn't want to talk about it."

"Cool. My friend back home is pretty sure the woman who owns the crystal shop is a witch, but that's about as magical as things seemed to get."

"Do you think she is a witch?" Tony asked.

[lovemykilt]

"I dunno. Trucker says she 'knows' things. I haven't seen anything that says otherwise."

"Could be, I guess," Tony said.

[lovemykilt]

"What kinda stuff can you do?"

[wantstodirect]

Tony looked around and spotted an unopened bag of chips on the kitchen counter. He held out his hand, spoke the seven syllable spell (in no recognizable language) and the bag flew into his hand. He offered it to Priestly. "That," he said.

Priestly stared. "Sweet!"

Tony grinned.

"Can you move big stuff, too?"

[wantstodirect]

"How big?" Tony asked.

[lovemykilt]

"I dunno. Like person-sized or something?"

[wantstodirect]

"Not yet," Tony admitted.

[lovemykilt]

"Do you need to work it? Like weight training?"

[wantstodirect]

"Yeah, kind of," Tony said. "The more I practice, the heavier stuff I can move."

Priestly nodded. So magic had some sort of relation to normal stuff. "Cool."
