It was time for Darkest Night and so Firekeeper and Blind Seer were curled up on their usual spot on the couch, with chips and some of the sweet fizzy drink to snack on while they watched tonight's episode- something about a board game with an evil curse on it.

"Hey!" Tony gave her a small wave. "Vampire detective show."

"Are vampire detectives different from other kinds of detectives?" asked Tahiri.

"Well, they drink blood," Tony said.

"Oh," Tahiri said nonchalantly. "Okay. But other than that, just a detective?"

Although, ew.

"Pretty much," Tony said. "He's got some vampire powers, though. Kind of a superhero for people who don't like capes."

"What's with superheroes and capes here, anyway?" asked Tahiri. "And what powers do vampires have?"

"Vampires usually have super strength and speed and they're harder to hurt than humans," Tony said. "And I guess a lot of us grew up on stories about guys with capes saving the day. Do you have comic books where you're from?"

"Oh, comic books." Tahiri nodded in understanding. "Yeah, but I think of capes and I think of the humans on Tatooine wearing them just to keep the sand away from their faces."

"They seem pretty impractical for real fighting," Tony said. "I guess they just look good."

Thinking of Lando, Tahiri smiled. "Some people can pull them off better than others, even if they are kind of impractical. Okay, I guess I can see why people here make their superheroes wear them."
