Liir had agreed to wash Amber's clothes for her, or what she had left of her clothes (stupid machines), so that is what they were going to do. It was just too cute how he carried her up the stairs and into the bathroom. Amber was loathe to be put down, but she was carrying her small bag of clothes, while he carried her, so she assumed the weight could be stressing.

Laughing, he gently placed her on her feet and she was almost tempted to lock the door so she could have fun in the tub with him. But... not yet.

"So. I hope you won't mind looking at my panties," she said, lacking the modesty to not say what she was thinking.

"Yah, sure, you betcha," she said. Would be bad to jump him here, wouldn't it? Like, just totally jump him and have her way with him and... stuff.

She took the soap and brush and started lathering it up.

He smiled and stopped the taps, pulling the plug up to keep the water trapped.

Then he pulled up one of the white shirts.

"The scrub brush is for any spots that would require it. Places where you perspire, stains, any of that."

He put the shirt over the edge of the tub.

"Make sure to get it a little wet first then scrub the right spots. It's easier to do it against the edge."

Amber took her shirt from where he placed it and dunked it in the water, and then she put it back over the edge of the tub where she started scrubbing with the brush.

"Huh. You wash your clothes like this all the time?"

He nodded.

"It's... comforting, sometimes," he admitted.

He leaned over and watched her for a moment.

"It doesn't have to be hard. You've got it about right. Try a few different angles. If you look at the way cloth is, it's easy to get at all the dirt by scrubbing in a few different directions."

He tipped his chin down to kiss her cheek before leaning back.

Comfort in washing clothes? She supposed maaaaybe it could be. It would obviously give her time to be thinky.

Biting her lip, she tried a few different angles, but after his kiss she grinned, casting him a sideways glance. "Liir, you're laundry skills amaze me," she teased and flicked bubbles at him.

He popped the bubble with his nose before smirking.

"They're well-earned. I've been doing it since I was six or so."

"Six?" she exclaimed. "Six year olds should be playing with play-doh, not having to do laundry."

"I'd help Sister Linen sometimes. None of the others would come to the laundry room much. And then when we got to Kiamo Ko, it was somewhere to hide to keep away from Manek. The Witch'd gotten used to it then and didn't want Sarima's sisters meddling in her things, so I just... kept on doing it."

He shrugged.

"It was nicer than most of my chores except in the winter when the water was terribly cold."

"Oh, Liir," she said, his explanation prompting her to drop the brush and wrap her arms around him for a tight hug.

He blinked but was happy to accept the hug from Amber.

He didn't have to get it but she had to hug him. His childhood was far from normal. Okay far from normal compared to hers.

After a moment, she went back to scrubbing.

"This is back breaking work," she said, bending over her shirt. She might have been exaggerating just a tad.

He rolled his eyes a little.

"It's not, really. And once you learn a rhythm, you'll hardly feel it."

"I feel it already," she said. "I might need a massage or something later."

"I'll give you one after," he promised her.

She grinned over at him. "If you forget, I'll remind you," she told him.

Amber thought she scrubbed her shirt just about as much as she could scrub it. "Time to rinse!"

He shook his head.

"Toss it into the water and move onto the next one."

Amber tossed it in the water and grabbed another shirt.

"Hey, I thought you were going to do my wash?" she teased.

"I would, but you've got the scrub brush," he pointed out as he started to agitate the shirt in the bathtub.

"I was teasing; I wouldn't make you since I am perfectly able," she told him, nudging him with her shoulder.

"I guess I am spoiled to washing machines that do it for me."

He shuddered theatrically before continuing.

"I'll do it for you, really, Amber. It wouldn't bother me at all."

"That's okay. It would do things to me seeing you wash my panties," she said, and then laughed at herself.

She started scrubbing her shirt, leaning against the tub, getting the shirt she borrowed from him, wet. "I'll have to wash your clothes too."

He shook his head.

"I'll just it later," he said. "You're already washing some of my clothes."

He ran his hand along her arm and patted the shoulder.

"Sorry. This is a wet job, you know," she pointed out.

She scrubbed hard, this way and that, and was done with it. She flung it in the water.

"This is going to take all night long."

He shook his head.

"It'll take less and less time as you get a feel for it."

He held out his hands for the scrub brush.

"May I show you?"

Amber handed it over, with the soap. "Be my guest."
