One would think that after having sat through two marathon sessions of the first season with two different people, Cal would have been a little more lenient about his pretensions about watching Rumor Gal. Alas, the remote control still wound up 'lost' beneath the sofa and Cal found himself too 'burdened' by a bowl of popcorn to bother getting up, and the TV was staying on the CW, dammit.

Amber's face went red. "Shut up, Cal, geeze," she whispered. "It's not so bad, no, but I don't need everyone knowing either."

"Says the girl lounging around in her room in her underwear with the door open half the time," Cal said, but he lowered his voice a little for her sake. He shook his head a little. "You have the weirdest sense of propriety ever."

"Shut up, Cal," Amber repeated. "Louging in undies is totally different than letting the world know I want to have sex." Yes, still whispering and no, not getting the propriety thing.

"Everyone wants sex," Cal decided. "It's human nature."

She totally gave him a look. "Says he who is getting some?"

"Who said I was getting any?"

"I was asking, Cal."

"Maybe it's none of your beeswax."

She snorted. "Yah, whatever. You're so predictable. 'I don't kiss and tell la la la'," she practically sing-songed, though deepening her voice to mimic him.

"I didn't hear you complaining when it was you I wasn't kissing and telling about," Cal said, lifting his foot trying to nudge her with it.

She nudged back with her own foot. "Yah, whatever," she said, grinning just a little. "Maybe that's because you didn't kiss me enough to have anything to tell."

Cal didn't say anything to that, he just arched an eyebrow at Amber.

What, was she unconscious through half of their relationship or something?

"What? I could have kissed you all the time," she said.

How did their conversation get here?

"We kissed a lot, Amber," Cal stated, as if that made a firm case out of it and there wasn't room to argue the point.

Even if he would have to admit that they probably really could have kissed more.

"Sure we did," she replied, agreeing. "Just... we could have had more make-out sessions. They were fun."

"...Okay," Cal allowed. "Maybe we didn't use the best of our time to its fullest advantage, but still...there was....you know..."

He wasn't going to say it. In fact, if it got to it, he was changing the topic in the next turn if he could.

"Yah, I know," she said.

Then she tossed a piece of popcorn at him.

"I can't believe you're so into this show."

"I'm not into this show!" Cal threw a piece of popcorn back, incredibly grateful for the shift. So, so grateful. "It's the only thing on!"

Amber was nice like that. She actually could have talked about kissing for another five minutes or so. Seriously.

"Yah, okay, Cal. I totally believe you," she said, rolling her eyes.

"And there's hot chicks," he added, for good measure.

"And hot guys," she rolled her tongue, purring.

Cal's lip curled, his nose wrinkled, and then stuck out his tongue a little. "Sure. If you're into preppy douchebags."

"Never said I was into them. Said they were hot," she clarified.

Cal considered this for a moment.

"Even if someone," he said, "is the most physically attractive person in the world, if they're a total douche, they're not going to be hot. Because their personality will start to be more repulsive than their physical traits."

"Yah, well, call me shallow while watching this show then, 'cause some of those guys are super fine," she said. "We are just talking about a tv show here. And besides, girls are totally attracted to bad boys. Or some of us anyways."
