Second floor common room, Wednesday night

Priestly had finally called his mom back after cheerleading practice.

Yeah, that conversation hadn't gone well. Well, okay, it had, but only because Priestly lied out his ass. According to his mom, now, the school'd made him get a haircut, he was back to playing football, and her little plan to get her good little boy back on the straight and narrow was working.

So now he was sprawled on the couch, taking up as much room as humanly possible, Ramone flopped out on his head between the twin lines of his hairstyle of the day, flipping through channels at high speed while pondering what sort of bizarre and assuredly not "straight and narrow" dish to make himself for dinner.

"What do you think, Ramone? Maybe a fondue? People love fondue."

Priestly had no idea how to make a fondue.

[ooc: open like a common room]

"Wolf way is simplier. Sometimes I not understand humans." ...Okay really it was more like 'most of the time'.

"Too many ... um. I dunno. Things we wish were different, I guess. I'm just happy I didn't embarrass myself even more." Or reveal her secret identity, yay. All her emotional hemorrhaging had at least kept her from bleeding *that* secret out. "Harder to act when you can't *lie*, either."

[identity profile] kestrelswolf.livejournal.com 2009-02-05 03:22 am (UTC)(link)
"That is being a good point," Firekeeper admitted, thinking of the times when her human companions from Hawk Haven had been required to assume other identities.

"I sucked at yesterday's rehearsal, and kept asking too many questions. So nice to not feel out of control, too," Dinah realized. "That was kinda scary." She scritched behind Blind Seer's ear. "So how are you guys' classes going?"

[identity profile] kestrelswolf.livejournal.com 2009-02-05 03:26 am (UTC)(link)
Blind Seer totally tilted his head to give Dinah better scritching-access. Proud independent wolf he may be, but he wasn't gonna turn down a good ear-scritching.

"Well, I think," Firekeeper said. "Humans is having so many strange foods!" It wasn't a complaint, really. More of an observation.

"We eat anything," Dinah agreed happily, getting up to grab a piece of cheesecake. "Blind Seer, can you eat cheese? And at least humans don't eat, I don't know, garbage? Raccoons do that. Bleah."

[identity profile] kestrelswolf.livejournal.com 2009-02-05 03:37 am (UTC)(link)
Blind Seer shook his head at Dinah's question.

"Is good that things is not getting wasted," Firekeeper said. "But that not mean I want to be eating garbage either," she admitted.

[identity profile] blondecanary.livejournal.com 2009-02-05 03:40 am (UTC)(link)
Dinah gave him extra scritches of commiseration for what Blind Seer was missing out on.

"Me neither, ech. Although we do waste too much. But we can afford to," Dinah said consideringly, scooping a bite of cheesecake into her mouth. "And at least we help out where we can, too."

[identity profile] kestrelswolf.livejournal.com 2009-02-05 03:45 am (UTC)(link)
"How can you be affording to waste things?" Firekeeper asked with a frown.

[identity profile] blondecanary.livejournal.com 2009-02-05 03:47 am (UTC)(link)
Dinah really gave that some thought a minute, and offered, "In at least this country? We're not having a famine, or a water shortage, or a plague, or a war. So it's not good to waste stuff, but usually nobody dies if we do. And we can send the extra in care packages. It could be better organized though." She pulled up her legs onto the couch to sit Indian-style. "Plus we have extra socked away. But it does make us kind of lazy."

[identity profile] kestrelswolf.livejournal.com 2009-02-05 03:54 am (UTC)(link)
"It does," Firekeeper nodded. Yeah, see how she survived yesterday without any lingering embarrassment? "I am not used to such things," she admitted. "Without the help of my pack, there were many winters I probably not survive."

[identity profile] blondecanary.livejournal.com 2009-02-05 04:06 am (UTC)(link)
"Still, we have time to make up stories too," Dinah said, thinking aloud. She gave Firekeeper a thoughtful look. "Are you guys going to go back? To the forest, I mean, not just to Hawk Haven." She looked at Blind Seer. "Is this place boring for you, with no other wolves? Aside from Blysse," she said conscientiously.

[identity profile] kestrelswolf.livejournal.com 2009-02-05 04:23 am (UTC)(link)
"We try to go back the way we get here," Firekeeper shrugged. "The trail is gone. Derian comed here once, during the time when families was being allowed to visit, but we could not go back with him. Blind Seer say, he make choice to live among humans, and this choice allow him to run trails no other wolf have run. He find this a good thing."

[ooc: i know the name thing is a pain, sorry about that!]

[identity profile] blondecanary.livejournal.com 2009-02-05 04:26 am (UTC)(link)
"Cool." Dinah stroked his nose for that, hoping to get across how much she liked him for that, then looked thoughtfully at Blysse. "So you're... a junior, if I remember right? Maybe you'll just get to go home when you graduate. Merlin and Arthur can't get home either, and they haven't heard from Camelot." She kind of hoped they got to stay for longer than one term.

[np! I tiiiired.]

[identity profile] kestrelswolf.livejournal.com 2009-02-05 04:30 am (UTC)(link)
Firekeeper's eyebrows furrowed as she tried to remember what the name of her 'class' was. "Am freshman, I think is what they call it. So, there is many years until this graduation."

[identity profile] blondecanary.livejournal.com 2009-02-05 04:42 am (UTC)(link)
"Ooooh, yeah. Three and change. What do you want to learn here?" Dinah asked, really curious. "If you're going back to the forest and Hawk Haven?"

[identity profile] kestrelswolf.livejournal.com 2009-02-05 04:56 am (UTC)(link)
"Am not sure if I go back to Hawk Haven, even if I can be leaving this place," Firekeeper admitted. "We have a good home on Misheemnekuru now, and friends there. But, I think, I hope, maybe things I learn here I can bring back, to help Royal Beasts and humans be living together."

[identity profile] blondecanary.livejournal.com 2009-02-05 05:05 am (UTC)(link)
"Misheem-- okay, I can't say that. But what kind of help do they need?" Dinah asked, finishing up her cheesecake. "And what makes them Royal? Are they all like Blind Seer?"

[identity profile] kestrelswolf.livejournal.com 2009-02-05 05:38 am (UTC)(link)
"None is quite like Blind Seer," Firekeeper boasted. "But if you mean in size, and smartness, yes. They is Royal because- is closest human word to explaining difference between them and Cousin beasts, small ones humans is knowing of. Liglim use a different word, yarimaimalom, which mean Wise Beast," she paused for a moment, not used to quite such long speeches. "I help, because... humans is much like wolves, always wanting new land for their packs to roam. But the way they take this land, is not leaving much for other creatures."

[identity profile] blondecanary.livejournal.com 2009-02-05 05:49 am (UTC)(link)
"Ohhhhh," Dinah said, following a good portion of that, if not all of it. "So you're wanting to... negotiate? Or defend? Their territory from the humans next door. Got it." She tilted her head, studying Blind Seer, then Blysse. "So you really lucked out, when you were little, being found by the Royal Beasts, and not just any wolves, didn't you. Since they're bigger and smarter."

[identity profile] kestrelswolf.livejournal.com 2009-02-05 06:01 am (UTC)(link)
"Was not so much found," Firekeeper admitted. "My mother gived me to them before she die, asking One Female and One Male to take care of me," she said.

[identity profile] blondecanary.livejournal.com 2009-02-05 06:04 am (UTC)(link)
"Whoa." And Dinah could... kind of get that. "Nobody else to look after you, hunh?"

[identity profile] kestrelswolf.livejournal.com 2009-02-05 06:11 am (UTC)(link)
"Fire kill them all," she said matter-of-factly. "I not remember it, though."

[identity profile] blondecanary.livejournal.com 2009-02-05 06:13 am (UTC)(link)
Dinah nodded, pulling her knees up, thinking, and said, "My mom gave me up. When I was six. It... didn't really work out." She bit her lip. "You got lucky. That they accepted you." She turned to Blind Seer. "Your family rocks."

[identity profile] kestrelswolf.livejournal.com 2009-02-05 06:21 am (UTC)(link)
"I not understand how a parent could do this," Firekeeper admitted, and once again, Dinah was making her think of Citrine. "Also, what is you meaning by 'rocks'?"
