Wednesday After Classes, The Gym -- Cheerleading Practice

Savannah was a little more somber than usual as she got to the Gym and set up for practice. She pulled out the mats and made sure they were perfectly aligned. After doing that, she set up a table for the refreshments and then a table with the sign in sheet and the music.

The gym was alive with the sounds of techno as Savannah started stretching out.

"Hey, Brooke?" Joan asked, walking over. Despite being fellow cheerleaders, they had never really talked. "Can I ask you something?"
gobrookeyourself: (hearing you out)

"Oh, sure," she said, figuring it just had to be about cheer stuff. "What's up?"

Joan paused for a moment, trying to figure out exactly how to word her question. "Okay, so... I heard you on the radio the other night? And it sounded like you said something about making me a wedding dress. And, well, I was confused."

Brooke looked at her blankly for a long moment.

"...I was on radio?"

"... I'm pretty sure it was you," Joan said. "And some girl named... Jana? But you called her Brooke, so I'm not sure."
gobrookeyourself: (shhh i'm thinking)

Don't drink in excess, kids.

"Ohhhhh, my Brookealike. Huh. And yet we're both still alive. I assume." Because she stood a chance there, yes. "And you weren't one of the ones that got married?"

"Not even close," Joan admitted. "Didn't even get a kiss out of my date. At least I think it was a date."

She shrugged. "I'm guessing if you don't remember doing radio, you don't remember why you thought you were making me a dress."
gobrookeyourself: (having serious thoughts)

"Ooh! Wait, there was something about a date." She frowned in concentration. "I think I declared Angela one of your bridesmaids. ...In fact I think I decided I was planning your wedding. Are you sure you didn't get married?"

"Absolutely positive," Joan said, nodding emphatically. "Marco and I have only gone out a few times. I wouldn't even call him my boyfriend at this point."
gobrookeyourself: (cute)

Brooke frowned. "Maybe I'm optimistic?"

Joan considered that. "Yeah, maybe. Well, if I ever do get married, I'll totally let you make my dress."
gobrookeyourself: (satisfied)

"That's all I ask," Brooke said, like she was entitled or something. "Half the school got married, you know how many dresses I made? None. Total disappointment."

"Well, it sounded like those weddings weren't exactly planned," Joan pointed out. "So I'm guessing you wouldn't have had time to make the dresses before the brides sobered up."

Or the dressmaker, for that matter.
