5th Floor Common Room - Thursday After Classes

After class Lois was bored and had a craving for something sweet so she went to the common room to rifle through the fridge a bit to see what would come up. Eventually she settled on making root beer floats. They were easy enough to make and it was kind of hard to screw them up.

You could, however, add too much root beer to the glass so when you put in the ice cream it started overflowing everywhere. Which is exactly what Lois did.

"Holy crap!" Lois said, leaning down to drink up some of the float so it would stop overflowing. Then, figuring that it would be a shame to waste soda like that, leaned down to suck the root beer off the counter.

Hurley laughed when he saw Lois drinking off the counter. "Nice," he said. He wasn't judging. He'd do that, too.

"Didn't want to waste it," she said, lifting her head up quickly.

"I totally get you," Hurley said. "Don't think we've met before. I'm Hurley."

"Lois," she said. "I don't normally make that much of a mess eating."

"Shucks, and here I thought we had something in common," Hurley joked. "Root beer floats, huh?"

"Yeah," Lois said, nodding. "I was craving something sweet and I can't cook so I figured I could make these with little damage. I was wrong."

"Oops," Hurley said. "Still, no permanent damage, right?"

"Table might be sticky for a couple of days but other than that I think I prevented anything too disastrous from happening," she said.

"Yeah," Hurley said. "Besides, no one'll notice. Or care. A little stickiness never hurt anyone."

Lois was so not going to make a dirty joke about that. She just met the guy. But her grin was gonna get a bit wider, yes.

"I also plan to be far away from here by the time anybody notices so even if they do have a problem they won't know it's me," Lois said.

"Ha!" Hurley said. "Not your floor?"

"No, no my floor. It's just most people aren't used to seeing me in the kitchen," she explained. Actually most people would probably be used to seeing her in a bar.

"Well, you ever need help cooking, just knock on my door," Hurley said. "I'm down in 529. No culinary genius or anything, but I get by."

"I might have to take you up on that," she said. "I'm hopeless when it comes to cooking. I ruin everything."

She was not exaggerating here.

Hurley chuckled. "What, even hot pockets?"

"Oh god, they ruin themselves," Lois said, wrinkling up her nose. She only ate those when she was drunk.

"...yeah, good point," Hurley said. "Better to just make a quesadilla or something, usually."

"Who threw the overalls in Mrs. Murphy's chowder?" Robin was singing. He'd been surfing YouTube. "Hi Lois! What's going on?"

"Nothing much," she said. "Just making a snack."

Root beer floats were totally snacks.
