Deck, Saturday Afternoon

It was nice to wake up to a warm day finally. Hannibal had thought the winter would just be everlasting, dumping snow on them whenever it got the urge but it was finally warm. He didn't even mind the clouds that much because warmth meant he didn't have to coop himself up inside anymore. Warmth meant he could stick himself on the deck, in a comfortable chair with his feet up and sunglasses on.

Really, he probably would have been happy to sit on the deck if it had been cold. It was amazing how everything seemed to improve when one's mood was no longer akin to a battered punching bag.

It might not have been the deck of a cruise ship but Hannibal decided this was kinda nice anyway.

Moping yesterday had done her no good, and she'd spent nearly all of Saturday morning walking and talking with Spirit about things. It was chance that she passed the deck on her way back into the dorms and Adora paused when she spotted Hannibal, unsure if she should say something.

"Wasn't it snowing last weekend?" Maybe she could pretend nothing had happened.

"Was it?" Hannibal asked, trying to think back. "I think I was still on cruise weather."

And being an ass to some people.

"But, hey, it's not anymore, right?"

"I thought for sure we'd been transported elsewhere when I realized I didn't need a coat," Adora said. "It's a good change."

"It happens like that here," he said, half smiling. "Seasons change quick. If you don't like the weather, wait five minutes and it'll be different."

Sounded like some people here, too. "Should I try that now? Because I was hoping this would last through the next few weeks."

"No no, let's try and keep this weather, if we can," he agreed. "I like being outside more than I like being inside."

"Me too," she agreed, taking a seat. "The sunshine is quite a nice change from all the fluorescent."

"Yep." He nodded once and then asked, "How's it going with you?"

"Me?" He would have to ask. "I'm more concerned about how you are, really."

"Concerned about me?" he asked, frowning. "Why for?"

She looked at him apologetically, "Because I was a terrible friend to you."

"Yeah, well, I wasn't the nicest guy that night either," he said. Tricking her into drinking massive amounts of Jager was probably mean. "But, yeah."

"I'm very sorry, Hannibal. Even with the alcohol, I knew better than to get defensive and ask you to choose." Even if she would likely do it again. "You were probably right about me."

Okay, so it turns out there was only so much smoke you could blow out a window before you became a little worried that you were going to cause the fire alarms to go off and have the whole school hate you.

Well...hate you more than they already do.

So Chuck made his way down to the deck and flopped down into a chair, lighting up a joint before he could even get comfortable. "Hey."

"Still a girl?" Hannibal asked, smirking. "How's that working out for you?"

Chuck shrugged. "Once you get the walking in heels thing down it's not that much different than being a guy."

"Why, Chuck, it almost sounds like you're preparing to be like this for awhile," Hannibal teased. "Maybe I should start calling you Charlene."

"Maybe I should kick you in the shin with my Louboutins," Chuck replied. That would probably hurt. Those shoes were pointy.

"I don't need to be kicked with lasagna," Hannibal said, not even bothering to try and pronounce the other word. "Besides, you kick me, I'm kicking you back. None of this 'but I'm a girl!' shit."

"I could take you in a cat fight," Chuck said. He flashed the hand that wasn't holding a joint. "I've got nails now."

"God, you're such a girl," Hannibal said, amazed. "You're threatening me with your fingernails. You need some tampons? I'm sure you can find someone sympathetic."

Chuck rolled his eyes. "I'm coping. If this had happened to you you'd still be crying under your covers."

"Bullshit, I was fine last time," he reminded Chuck. "Done anything fun with that body yet?"

"Just the usual things I do to myself," he replied before taking a hit of the joint. "If you're trying to ask if I've had sex with someone other than myself, no, I haven't."

He wasn't entirely sure that he wanted to. What if he was a virgin again? Fuck that. Or don't, rather.
