The Stables [midmorning-onwards]

Aravis had a horse. She knew there were several others who had horses, too -- she'd said good morning to those horses when she'd carefully gotten Trenor out -- but she felt hers was the best. Clearly.

So, Aravis, her pockets full of apples, was carefully walking Trenor around the yard, and had located a mounting block (plus there was a little bit of fencing she could climb up, if she needed) for later.

[ARAVIS WILL GIVE HORSIE RIDES. So, um, open. I go into heeeeeavy SP at 4 EST though.]

"Uh huh." Tahiri remembered to whisper again. "And you're my friend and we look out for each other, right""

Ben nodded solemnly and put his slightly sticky hand (because three year old boys came that way) towards hers.

Tahiri didn't mind if his hand was sticky. Hygiene wasn't really a huge priority among the Sand People, after all. She reached out and took his hand, giving him a bright, reassuring smile. "If the loud people really upset you, I can yell at them or something."

Because that would be so helpful, really.

Ben giggled. "That won't work," he said softly.

"Well, I could try," Tahiri told him. "Loud people shouldn't bother you."

"They're all loud," Ben said, wrinkling up his little nose.

"In your head?" Tahiri reached over with every intention of trying to rumple his hair. "Do you know how to make them stop?"

She wasn't very good at that yet either, but she wasn't nearly as empathic as he was.

Ben shook his head. The way he used to made Mommy and Daddy sad, so he'd stopped.

"You don't talk very much," Tahiri observed. "But that's okay. I can talk enough for both of us."

Yes. Yes, she could, and then some.

Ben grinned. He knew she could. "Havin' a 'venture?"

"Of course," Tahiri said, giggling. "How else am I supposed to spend my time without any classes today?"

"Sleeping?" He giggled. Only babies spent time sleeping.

[weetuskenraider]

"Sleeping's boring," Tahiri said, wrinkling up her nose. "Maybe I'll go find Firekeeper Tamara later and go exploring places. Want to?"

"Kay," Ben said agreeably.

He got to hang out with a Big Kid. He wasn't going to say no.

"Good. I like doing stuff with you," Tahiri said happily.

Ben shuffled his boots in the mud, embarrassed.

Tahiri giggled and looked down at her own muddy toes. "You're embarrassed, aren't you? You shouldn't be. It's true."

"Why?" Ben asked.

[weetuskenraider]

"Why what?" Tahiri asked him right back.

[momslilassassin]

Ben had stumbled onto a new game.

"Why what?" he repeated.

[weetuskenraider]

"Why what yourself," Tahiri retorted good-naturedly.

[momslilassassin]

"Why what yourself?" Ben asked, then burst out giggling.

[weetuskenraider]

"And that's your answer, then," Tahiri said through her own fit of giggles.

Ben giggled harder. "'snot so loud now," he confided.

"Did you figure out how to make them be quiet?" Tahiri asked him.
