The Stables [midmorning-onwards]

Aravis had a horse. She knew there were several others who had horses, too -- she'd said good morning to those horses when she'd carefully gotten Trenor out -- but she felt hers was the best. Clearly.

So, Aravis, her pockets full of apples, was carefully walking Trenor around the yard, and had located a mounting block (plus there was a little bit of fencing she could climb up, if she needed) for later.

[ARAVIS WILL GIVE HORSIE RIDES. So, um, open. I go into heeeeeavy SP at 4 EST though.]

The dorms were too loud. After a quick breakfast, Ben had struck out on his own (ha, Nanny wouldn't be able to find him now!), and smiled a little to himself when he saw a familiar face.

He walked over to Aravis and stood there.

Ben wasn't much of a talker.

"Ben!" Aravis shouted excitedly, before immediately lowering her voice to a more ladylike volume. Her nurse would be upset if she heard her. "Good morning, Ben! Trenor, say good morning."

Trenor didn't actually say anything. But Aravis felt that was all right.

Ben smiled at Aravis, then waved at Trenor before reaching a cautious hand out to pat him.

Dinah had been wandering around. Wandering around. Flailing her balloons. Loooooking around. Oooooo. "Horsies!"

Aravis eyed the other girl and her...floaty things. "Hello! His name is Trenor."

"Hi Trenor!" Dinah said, standing on tippy-toe to stare at him, balloons dangling at her side. "He's biiiiiig," she said solemnly to Aravis. "Is he your horsie?"

Ben stared at the floaty things. He pointed at them and gave her an inquisitive look.

Ben wasn't big on conversation.

That's okay. Dinah so very much was.

"Hunh? My balloons?" Dinah swung her wrist around so he could see them, blue and pink and yellow, and waved them cheerfully, boing boing boing! "My mommy got me some for my birthday party, and they're s'posed to be for special, but I looooove them, do you want one? I gots extra!"

Tahiri had a lot more JJK mocking to do so omg forgive me wandered out of the dorms to see if there was anything fun to do or anywhere she could explore. It was so weird being one of the older kids.

But then there were four-legged creatures who looked nothing like the banthas and rontos and dewbacks she was used to seeing on Tatooine, where she'd grown up, and she couldn't help staring. It was a pretty animal.

Tahiri's face lit up and she waved back. "Hi, Ben!" *insert excessively long exposition here*

"Hello!" Aravis greeted her. "This is Trenor. Would you like to pet him?"

People seemed to want to do that today. Aravis supposed she ought to just greet them with that.

"Can I?" Tahiri asked, looking up. And up. "Is he yours?"

Dinah waved her balloon bouquet at Tahiri, and grinned. "Hi hi hi. Horsies!"

Clearly, this explained itself.

"And balloons," Tahiri added helpfully, pointing at the ones Dinah was holding. "Why do you have balloons?"

Without Éomer around to tell her what to do, Éowyn was very tempted to simply go out and play. But she was a good girl, and good girls always did their chores first. That meant going to the stables to make sure Windfola had plenty of food and got his coat brushed the way he always liked it. At the moment, she was reaching up with an apple, making sure he ate it all.

"Éoooooooooooooowyyyyyyyyyyyyyn," Aravis called when she spotted her. "Bring your horse out so he can be friends with Trenor!"

"Hellooooo Aravis!" Éowyn said. "Windfola is almost done eating. He needs to have his whole apple so he'll be big and strong. Like Trenor!"

"Hi hi Éowyn!" Dinah called, waving the one arm and swinging her balloons with the other. "Oooo, what's the horsie's name?"

"This is Windfola!" Éowyn said proudly. "What are those?" she asked, pointing to the balloons.

"You have a horse too?" Tahiri asked, padding over on her bare feet. "Everyone has a horse. It makes me miss Bangor."

"Is Bangor your horse?" Éowyn asked. "This is Windfola. You may pet him if you'd like. He won't hurt you."

Adora had been disappointed by Spirit's ride this morning. He had insisted she was far too small for him to go at top speeds safely and wouldn't accept her commands.

After they returned, she'd crankily retrieved his food and wandered out to see who else was in the stables this morning. It was so odd that she was expected to care for Spirit herself.

"Adora!" Aravis greeted her happily. "Good morning! Trenor says good morning to Spirit too!" Trenor, incidentally, did not actually say this.
