Shooting Range, Friday Afternoon
Despite the faith that Sam had in Peter's abilities, nothing could change the fact that he wanted Peter to learn how to shoot a plain, normal gun. It had been a little while since they'd discussed shooting lessons, but since they were both free in the afternoon, Sam figured there was no point in postponing things any longer.
"I know you're going to be great at this," he said as he picked out a spot for them. "You know, for the record."
[Sam's here for Peter but the range is open otherwise!]

It was possible that Sam was easily influenced into thinking the best of Peter. He might have been a little biased.
"The one thing we never cheap out on is picking weapons," Sam said. "All it takes is one problem and--" Somehow, mentioning the possibility of getting killed didn't seem like the best way to finish that thought. "Well, it could get really bad."

"Nice," Peter managed to say instead.

What Peter didn't do was aim. Or at least worry about it too much. He got the target, but he figured he didn't have to try to aim for a specific part. He flicked the safety off easily and fired.

"Good," he said, grinning. "Did that feel okay?"

"You did great," he said when Peter was done, reaching to disarm him. "Really great. I'm so glad you let me show you how to do this."
