Shooting Range, Friday Afternoon

Despite the faith that Sam had in Peter's abilities, nothing could change the fact that he wanted Peter to learn how to shoot a plain, normal gun. It had been a little while since they'd discussed shooting lessons, but since they were both free in the afternoon, Sam figured there was no point in postponing things any longer.

"I know you're going to be great at this," he said as he picked out a spot for them. "You know, for the record."

[Sam's here for Peter but the range is open otherwise!]

Yeah, that was at least ten times hotter in reality than it was in Peter's imagination. Peter tried hard not to act on it though since pouncing on your gun-firing boyfriend would bring about unhappy things even if one of you did have a healing ability.

"Nice," Peter managed to say instead.

Sam smirked at Peter, feeling a little warm from the compliment, and checked the gun before loading it again. "I'm glad you liked that. I hope you were paying attention, 'cause it's your turn now." He offered the gun to Peter more carefully this time. "Take this, and stand where I am. Just make sure you keep it pointed that way too."

Peter took the gun and got into position. If he stood really close to Sam - well that was so Sam could help him. "Like that?"

"That's a good start. Here, let me help," Sam said, moving so he was behind Peter instead. He tried to guide Peter into a good position while attempting to remember all the little details about shooting that he took for granted now - things like staying relaxed, not locking his elbows, keeping both eyes open. He had to keep his hands on Peter as he explained why he was moving him in the ways that he was, but Sam had a good feeling that Peter probably didn't mind.

Peter certainly didn't mind at all, not if the way he was pressing back into Sam was any indication. He found that already knowing how to shoot gave him an advantage in knowing how best to fit his body against Sam's - and in knowing how good Sam was at what he did. "Better?"

"Much better," Sam said, a little quieter as he smiled. "Now, don't worry too much about exactly where to aim. That's something we can work on later. There's going to be a recoil when you shoot, but I'll stay right here so you don't go anywhere," he assured him. "Whenever you're ready, go ahead and fire."

Knowing what the recoil was like, Peter braced himself so he wouldn't hurt Sam. Especially since he didn't want to go far. Sam felt pretty good right where he was, as far as Peter was concerned.

What Peter didn't do was aim. Or at least worry about it too much. He got the target, but he figured he didn't have to try to aim for a specific part. He flicked the safety off easily and fired.

Sam had thought that the fascination with how he looked when he was shooting was just a Peter thing. But being close to Peter when he fired, getting to see him and feel him in action...well, Sam might have understood Peter's reaction a little more now.

"Good," he said, grinning. "Did that feel okay?"

"You tell me," Peter said, looking up at Sam. He didn't move away though since, yanno, why? "You're the one giving the lesson."

"You're not nearly sprawled on your ass and looking dazed. Compared to me, you're doing great," Sam said, with no intention to move either. "Try it again."

"You fell on your ass your first time?" Peter asked. He couldn't help but shoot Sam a grin as he readied himself to fire again. This time his aim was a touch better.

"Dad and Dean didn't exactly take as much of a hands-on approach as I am with you," Sam pointed out. "You're doing well. See if you can try to aim more."

"I like your method better," Peter said. He readied himself and adjusted his aim to get closer to the center of the torso on the target.

"I do too," Sam said, leaning in closer and reaching to put one of his hands on Peter's arm to guide his aim. "Try right about here."

Peter may have accidentally bumped into Sam as he adjusted his aim. "Here?"

Sam grinned at Peter, and tried not to let himself get too distracted from his task. "Yeah, just like that."

"Out of curiosity, are you doing anything later?" Peter asked.

"I might stop by Ronan's party to wish him a happy birthday, but I don't have any other plans," Sam said, smiling more. "Why do you ask?"

"I was gonna offer doing me as an option," Peter said. He grinned at Sam. "But if you have plans..."

Sam slipped his arm around Peter's waist and leaned in more. "I accept that offer."

"If you're sure," Peter said as he pressed back into Sam's arms.

"Positive," Sam said quickly. "I can't imagine wanting anything else."

"So in theory if we finished up here we could get to doing other stuff faster," Peter said. Mostly because he was still aware of how pouncing on Sam while holding a loaded gun, while hot, was not safe. Also it was probably against school rules.

"Yeah, that is a sound theory," Sam said. Pouncing with guns really was a terrible idea. "I can teach you more in the future, if you want."

"If you don't mind," Peter said. "I could finish this round and we could get out of here?"

"I don't mind at all. Ever," Sam said clearly, keeping his hold on Peter just in case. "Go on and finish."

Peter brought the gun up again and fired, this time working to empty the clip. It was possible that his aim was a bit better this time. Mostly because Peter didn't want to take the chance on doing something dangerous while he was being faster, so he made sure to do everything the way he knew how to.

Sam watched Peter intently, impressed with how he was improving, and figured that Peter's abilities were helping him get so much better.

"You did great," he said when Peter was done, reaching to disarm him. "Really great. I'm so glad you let me show you how to do this."

"I can't tell you how much I enjoyed your teaching," Peter said. Which was okay, since he fully intended on showing Sam once they were back at Sam's room.

"We'll just have to make sure we do it again," Sam said eagerly.

"I may have to insist," Peter said.
