Second Floor Common Room, Wednesday Evening

Wednesday night found Firekeeper and Blind Seer, as usual, in the common room for their weekly dose of Darkest Night.

At first, tonight's episode had looked especially promising, as the plot claimed to center around a girl who'd been raised by wolves.

Within minutes, though, there was a somewhat annoyed-looking girl who actually had been raised by wolves throwing the occasional piece of popcorn at the screen.

Those weren't even real wolves they were using!

"They get things all wrong," Firekeeper declared. "Is not even close to truth!"

Claire glanced from the angry girl to the TV screen, then to the ... oh my god, the girl's big dog really was a wolf.

"So I guess you're the wolf expert?" her comment had less sarcasm than it usually would have.

"Am, yes," she nodded, since it was pretty much true.

"So what's wrong with what they're doing now?" Claire asked critically. "They seem pretty wolfy."

Firekeeper snorted. "Wolves not share kills like that! The Ones get best parts, and only after they is done will the rest of the pack eat."

"That's kind of not fair to the rest of them, if the head wolves take everything," Claire said, making a face.

Firekeeper shrugged. Life in the forest was many things, and fair was... not one of them. "Without Ones, the pack not survive to eat at all," she said.

"How do you know a democracy wouldn't work?" Claire asked, mostly talking just to talk. "Or, uh, communism! They could share the deer equally."

"Am not knowing what any of those things is," Firekeeper said doubtfully.

"You don't know what democracy is," Claire repeated doubtfully. "Where are you from?"

"Over Iron Mountains," Firekeeper shrugged. "North of human kingdom of Hawk Haven."

"And I don't know what any of that means, so, uh, we're kind of even?"

"I not meet any who does, so far. Have been told this means I am being from a different world than most here."

"Probably," Claire said. "I mean, I definitely don't hang out with wolves back home."

"Most do not there," Firekeeper replied. "Most is not even knowing wolves like he," she pointed at Blind Seer, "is even existing."
