Second Floor Common Room, Wednesday Evening

Wednesday night found Firekeeper and Blind Seer, as usual, in the common room for their weekly dose of Darkest Night.

At first, tonight's episode had looked especially promising, as the plot claimed to center around a girl who'd been raised by wolves.

Within minutes, though, there was a somewhat annoyed-looking girl who actually had been raised by wolves throwing the occasional piece of popcorn at the screen.

Those weren't even real wolves they were using!

"Much," He managed without turning red or looking directly at her. He hated Cal so much right now.

"So ... that's good." She cleared her throat and plunged ahead, probably making things worse. "I, uh, liked your accent, last time I saw you. Francine told me it was a gremlin thing."

"What do those look like, anyhow?"

"Small and green and bloody fast," Merlin replied, making a face.

"So ... if you see them it's too late?" Claire winced. "Yow. At least they're rare. Not that that's actualyl comforting, huh."

"Usually," Merlin said sadly. "You could always hope someone stops you before you make a fool of yourself."

"Yeah, I don't think that's, like, ever happened," Claire said with a snort, then hesitated. "Unless it happens all the time and people just never talk about it."

"It's a possibility around here!"

"Merlin, we could be talking about miniature koalas dancing the fucking hulu, and it would be a possibility around here," Claire had to point out.

"These little grey furry bear things," Claire, who was not renowned for her nature expertise, said. "They're cute except they have insane teeth. Plus they live off fermented eucalyptus so they're drunk all the time."

"Let's hope they don't come here."

That was terrifying.

"They live in Australia with all the other freaky animals," Claire said. "But that doesn't really have to mean anything."
