The Dorms: Early Afternoon [4.5]

Their master had spoken, and the zombie horde obeyed. He demanded the fresh blood of Fandom's children as a sacrifice upon his altar, new minions to begin the invasion of the mainland, and so they would carry out his command.

No matter what.

From somewhere undefined a drum beat carried on the wind, and the zombies of Fandom marched forth, the dorms beckoning them like a beacon. Here there be brains, here there be blood, here there be flesh.

Here, there be prey.

A horde of zombies fixed their eyes on the barricade, stalking forward, stalking towards the fresh, young meat behind it. Maybe they would taste like chicken. Maybe fish. Maybe pork.

As long as it didn't taste like veal.

The zombies moved.

Ben looked through the scope on his weapon, double-checking that he didn't recognize any of the partial faces, and then squeezed the trigger, aiming for a head shot on the lead zombie.

The zombie's head exploded in an almost cartoonish eruption of brain matter and blood. Ah well, one down, lots more for the people at the barricade to contend with.

The zombies ambled closer.

Ben swallowed hard--it wasn't like it was the first time he'd seen someone's head explode like that, sadly--and fired again.

The zombies kept falling, their heads becoming little more than roadkill on the earth but they were many and they were getting closer to the barricade.

Ben kept shooting until the long-range weapon no longer continued to be useful, then ignited his lightsaber and waited for the zombies to get into hacking range.

"Diiiiiiiiiiiiiie!" Hey, sometimes the zombies got bored of saying the same thing over and over again. And, to continue a trend that Ben seemed to attract, one of the zombies ripped off his hand, strings of muscle and ligament hanging off the now severed limb, and threw it at Ben's face.

"Seriously. Ew," Ben said, batting the hand out of his way and then aiming his lightsaber for the zombie's neck.

The zombie wasn't able to get a hand up in time to block that and found his head severed. For a minute more, the head stayed on the zombie's neck before it lolled forward and faceplanted into the dirt.

The zombie's body stayed upright thought, seemingly lost without its head. He lurched into the barricade, banging up against it ineffectively.

"Nasty, nasty, nasty," Ben chanted, moving to put the rest of the body out of its misery.

By cutting it to bits. Yuck, Ben.
