Fifth Floor Common Room, Late Saturday Morning

"There's some orange juice in the fridge," Ronan said, as he pulled two tumblers out of the cupboard. "D'you want to pour us some?"

He started assembling items for breakfast -- eggs, bread, bacon, sausage...

"This is the school where you and Mommy met, right?" Rachel asked, sitting at the table and waiting for her breakfast.

Marco nodded. "Yes." He also gave each girl a waffle before feeding more waffles to the toaster. "How did you end up here?"

"The tooth fairy?" Jadie tried looking innocent and eating her waffle.

Rachel shrugged and dug into her waffle. "I dunno. There was a shimmery thing and then here I was!"

Marco glanced over at Jadie who shrugged innocently. "Right. Shimmery portal. I am so never going to ... finish this sentence here have another waffle."

"Thank you, Daddy!" Rachel said, beaming at him. "Can I have some juice?"

"Sure." Marco said and poured juice for all three of them. He totally understood why people drank now.

Joan was beginning to understand that as well, after meeting one daughter with wings and one son who seemed determined to spill her secret.

When she spotted Marco sitting with TWO kids, she nearly passed out.

"Uh, morning?"

"Oh good." Marco said, shoving another waffle at the girls.

"Hi, Mommy!" Rachel grinned up from her breakfast. "Daddy maded me and Jadie breakfast cause there's no servants here."

Jadie frowned. "You're not my mommy." She said with a pout.

Marco sighed. "No, your mommy isn't here. Hi Joan. Help." He somehow tried to sign over Jadie's head that her mommy was kind of dead to Joan but it probably just looked like a lot of flailing.

Joan totally didn't understand his flailing. But that was okay because she was doing some flailing of her own. Hopefully Marco would be so distracted by the kids that he wouldn't ask why she disappeared from prom last night.

"You look like you have breakfast under control," she said.

"That's...not the most accurate interpretation of events." Marco flailed some more.

"What's wrong? What can I do to help?" Joan asked.

"You should give Daddy a good morning kiss," Rachel offered helpfully.

"EEEEEEEEEEEEEEW." Jadie said. "Grooooooss."

"Um." Marco said.

Or possibly never, if he knew what happened last night.

Marco could really only deal with one thing at a time. "Waffles?"

"YES!" Jadie shouted, glaring at Joan for good measure.

Never mind that Rachel had already eaten like four.

Marco figured that as long as he was shoveling food towards the kidlets they would be unlikely to do anything insane. Er. Insaner than just showing up.

"So uh, any more show up for you?"

"Um, yeah, two others," Joan said, her cheeks flushing. "Who does Jadie belong to?"

"Um...Rachel?" Marco tried to convey 'my dead teammate' with hand gestures. "She's a ... friend from home? Sorta? It's really, really complicated."

"Your friend that we apparently named our daughter after?" Joan said. Oh OH. His frantic hand gestures actually kind of made sense then.

Marco nodded, a lot. "UH HUH!"

Jadie glanced up and glared at Joan. "Why'd you name Rachel after Mommy?"

Marco flailed.

"Because she's Daddy's very good friend," Joan said. "And she's special, just like our Rachel."

It sounded good.
