Deck, Sunday Afternoon

With everything that had gone on recently, Hannibal almost forgot about the picnic he owed Adora. Almost but not quite. And, since it was a nice day today, he let her claim it and did his best with packing a basket.

Cold pizza, potato chips, two cans of soda some store bought brownies seemed the most safe and least cooking intensive for him.

The basket was at his feet and Hannibal was leaning back in one of the deck chairs, just waiting now.

"Yeah, that's what I heard too," he said and grinned, unashamed. "And calling me incorrigible isn't going to make me stop or change. It encourages me."

"Of course it does," she replied. "But then, I'm not sure anything would discourage you."

"There are certain things but I'm not planning on revealing them or anything," he said. "You didn't like the kids?"

"I did like the kids," Adora admitted. "I never thought kids would ever be possible for my life, though."

"Why not?" he asked, picking up the basket and setting it on the table. "Because of the job?"

"It isn't exactly conducive to family," Adora pointed out.

"Well, you made it work in some world," he reminded her. "Why not here?"

He made a good point. "You make a point," she agreed, starting to peer into the basket. "I can't say I know how I managed it. The idea is very not like me. It also makes me wonder why Edward and I had no children."

"Maybe you do," Hannibal said, pushing the basket towards her. "From what I gathered, these kids actually walked into a portal and ended up here. Maybe you and Edward had a kid that was busy doing something else."

He could be optimistic!

Adora raised an eyebrow. It made her head hurt to think of so many versions of herself. She focused on unloading the basket. "In that case, perhaps they were wandering the woods for a few days like he is known to do."

"Exactly," he said, nodding. "I mean, I didn't think kids of ours didn't show up. At one point, maybe we could have been something but that's passed and over."

"Did you?" Adora smirked, getting herself a beverage. "You know, it doesn't surprise me that those children were not ours so to speak. I always knew you were more interested in her."

"More interested in...who?" he asked, not following even if he should have been. There were too many her's that she could mean.

Adora laughed, "My very good friend, She-Ra."

"I wasn't...more interested in her," he lied and hid it by pulling out the pizza.

"Of course you weren't," Adora teased.

"Exactly!" he said, nodding and pulling out the plates. "Why would you think that?"

"Oh, no reason at all," Adora smiled, finding napkins and placing one by his plate and one by her own. "Though I always thought she'd be far too busy protecting her people to mother children."

"Does she not have any downtime back home?" he asked curiously.

"Nope. Life for She-Ra is running patrols, moving convoys, and fighting the Horde," Adora informed him with an easy smile. "If there's down time to be had, well, that gets claimed quickly."

"You don't think the fighting will ever stop?" Hannibal asked.

"I hope it will," she replied. "Those children gave me quite a lot of extra hope, in fact with their description of Hordak as our friend, though I cannot see Bo ever going along with that idea."

"Yeah, but Bo's one person," he said, shrugging. "He'd get used to it. If the fighting stops, he shouldn't nitpick why it stopped."

"I so adore hearing your take on these things," she replied, amused. "It's so refreshing to hear all positive things all the time."

"Hey, I try," he said and shrugged. "Do you think Hordak could be reformed?"
