The Deck, Monday afternoon

It was freakishly hot outside and Brooke had nothing to do.

This looked like the perfect opportunity to sit out on the deck with a bottle of water, a radio, and a hell of a lot of tanning lotion, all while praying she didn't fall asleep because wow would that suck.

"Which is kind of weird if you think about it," Jill said, "since we all live in the same dorm and all. You'd think we'd all be on top of each other all the time." She blushed. "Uh. Not dirty."

"A little dirty," said Brooke, smiling. "I mean, really."

[iamnotallgirl]

"Totally not dirty!" Jill protested.

[gobrookeyourself]

"Well it should be dirty. With everyone living in the same dorm and all. I'm amazed it's nothing but dirty."

"I think this conversation just stopped making sense," Jill said wryly. "Do-over?"

Those were easy enough. "Done. Hi, I'm Brooke."

[iamnotallgirl]

"Hi, Brooke, I'm Jill. Enjoying the weather?"

"I am. It's the perfect start to your summer, especially when your summer starts in April."

[iamnotallgirl]

"Yeah, this part of boarding school I could definitely get used to. My old school doesn't let out until late June."

[gobrookeyourself]

"We got out a little earlier than that, but it felt like the years took forever. I like it early. It feels like there's way more time to not do school at all." Clearly this was a very happy tought.

[iamnotallgirl]

"I actually like school," Jill confessed, "which, I know, total weirdo, but I like getting a break too, y'know?"

"I like the social time," Brooke agreed, "but you actually like, like, the classes?"

[iamnotallgirl]

"I like, like, getting good grades." She liked the approval of authority figures. Don't lie, Jill.

[gobrookeyourself]

"Yeah, that was so not my thing," Brooke admitted. She'd been happy with her 2.0 average once upon a time. It was probably higher in Fandom just due to the curriculum.

[iamnotallgirl]

"I just wish this place had actual math classes," Jill said. "I'm really good at math."
