There was a huge pile of stuff on the bed in alcove A1, because with a day free of classes, Francine had figured she might as well schlep her things over at a leisurely pace.

You know what wasn't in the huge pile of stuff on the bed in alcove A1? The marshmallows. Or the Hershey bars. Or the graham crackers.

Or Francine, because she was out by the campfire trying to get it started. Putting away her huge pile of stuff could wait. There were s'mores to be gobbled made.

"He doesn't whine much when I show up all dressed up and flash some leg," Ino said thoughtfully. "But I would like him to ask me to go, you know, once or twice instead of me having to do everything."

"Ugh," Claudia said, wrinkling up her nose. "What a boy. Is he a good enough kisser to put up with the aggravation?"

"He's getting better," she said fairly. "Since he'd never kissed anyone before me, I didn't expect all that much to start with, and honest, we started dating 'cause we kept arguing and running into each other."

"'Wow, he's irritating, I should spend more time with him?'" Claudia said. "Huh."

"I like people who argue," she said, with a shrug. "Suppose it's a thing."

"Could be why you end up with the anti-social guys, yeah," Claudia said.

"What? Liking people who argue?" Ino asked. "I like to argue and have no trouble being social."

"Maybe you're just better at it than they are," Claudia said.

"Me and my ego can totally live with that," Ino decided. "What possessed you to get dressed like that?"

It was said friendly enough, but a bit dubiously.

"I don't like looking like everyone else," Claudia said.

Her grin widened, though she didn't laugh. "You do look good," she said, "and definitely not like anyone else."

Claudia grinned back. "Good," she said. "I painted the shirt myself."

The little gremlins running up the sleeves probably gave that away, yeah.
