Theodore Roosevelt Campfire: Monday morningish

There was a huge pile of stuff on the bed in alcove A1, because with a day free of classes, Francine had figured she might as well schlep her things over at a leisurely pace.

You know what wasn't in the huge pile of stuff on the bed in alcove A1? The marshmallows. Or the Hershey bars. Or the graham crackers.

Or Francine, because she was out by the campfire trying to get it started. Putting away her huge pile of stuff could wait. There were s'mores to be gobbled made.

Priestly was taking his time getting his stuff to the cabins, too.

His procrastination was leaning more towards exploring, though.

"Heya, Francine, how's it going?"

"I think I shouldn't have bought the discount lighter fluid," Francine said, cheerful despite the current frustration of there not actually being a roaring fire in the firepit.

"Having some trouble?" he asked as he walked by. He'd learned last year that you didn't have to stick by your own cabin's fire, and it was nice seeing Francine since he never seemed to get to talk to her at Cooking Club.

"Hi, Liir." Francine waved her stick at him. The stick she wasn't toasting marshmallows on because she was too busy trying to get the rest of the sticks to stay lit. "Maybe the wood's too damp."

Or maybe she just sucked at camping. But she did actually know how to start a fire. She just seemed to be extremely clumsy at it today.

Priestly nodded to Liir. "'Sup?"

Ino lobbed a marshmallow in his general direction and promptly pretended to look as innocent as possible.

Her? Throw things? Never!

"You know," she said conversationally, because hellos were so out-dated. "I think these cabin names are way too long. Can I have a marshmallow, please?"

Francine grinned. "Yup! To both." She held out the open bag. "Though I guess since we have two Roosevelts, at least this one had to be long."

"You could try calling this one 'Teddy'?"

"Omigod, best cabinmate ever," Claudia said enthusiastically as she made her second third seventh trip back from the dorms with her stuff.

And now Priestly didn't have to worry about hunting down what cabin Claudia was in. Score. "Hey, you."

"Hi, girl who is in my art class," Ino gave a bit of a wave at that.

Francine laughed and held out the bag of marshmallows. "Want to make your own? Or I can do one for you. There's plenty of chocolate and graham crackers."

"Where's your satellite?" Griff wondered, surprised he could recognize her without it.

Griff was a little surprised to see so many by the fire when he brought his things down from the dorms. "Fires already. Seems we've got a good cabin situation going right off the bat."

"I had a little help," Francine admitted. "I couldn't get the fire started by myself." She gave him a smile and a wave. "Hi, I'm Francine. I'm guessing you've gotta be Zack or Griffin."

"We're not all from this cabin," she informed him. "But that's okay too. Hi new person! Name and rank, please!"

Priestly nodded to the new guy. "Yo. New guy, right?"

"Oh-ho." Yeah, like she was going to miss this. "This is looking good already."

Francine grinned and waved. "Chie! Come have s'mores!"

"Person I don't know!" Claudia said around a mouthful of marshmallow. "Hi!"

Leto sad down next to the campfire, studying the people gathered. This might be a good thing, he had decided. Room 303 had been feeling claustrophobic lately. He smiled to himself.

"And which historical figure has loaned their name to your cabin?" Alice asked, glancing over at him. "Mine is more recent than myself. I don't know whether I should be amused or insulted."

Francine had talked directly to Leto... very possibly not at all ever, but she certainly knew who he was. And several people's widely varying opinions on him.

She trusted Alice's, though, and Dinah's, so she gave him a friendly smile. "Hi, Leto. Want a s'more?" She waved her stick, which currently just contained an untoasted marshmallow.

Alice was still less than pleased by fire, but her roommate was making those delicious s'mores, so she would be social.

"I believe our cabins are related," she noted.
