Millard Filmore Campfire - Monday lunchtime - 5/18
Liir had been playing his usual game of avoidance for the weekend and thus decided to do something about it.
That was why he was out with a lit fire, putting sticks into the ground around the fire with a few different kinds of sausages, hoping to provide a little lunch and maybe, just maybe, see people. He wasn't worried about the sausages, even though he wasn't that hungry.
Makejoy, growing girl that she was, looked as if she'd eat every last one if no one came.
[open like a fire!]

"Hi," she said.

"Hello. Care for some lunch?"
He gestured to the sticks.
"They're all open."

He leaned down to ruffle Makejoy's fur.
"Would you prefer she stayed away from you? She's well trained and very friendly, but she can stay here if you like."

Well! She would have to investigate. Especially the tail. The tail was interesting.
"Makejoy has a s-small friend," Hinata observed, smiling slightly while keeping an eye out on Yei. "At least she's gotten over her wariness. Hello, Liir."
no subject
"Hello, Hinata. Care for lunch? You're both welcome to some of whatever you'd like."
no subject
Hinata stifled a laugh as she took a seat. "I'm well enough for now," she said, smiling at him. "Thank you for the offer though. I'm sure Yei will l-love some, once she's done playing."
Or the food distracted her. It was hard to say which would come first.
no subject
Liir watched for a moment before nodding to Hinata.
"What have you been up to, then? All well?"

"Kiss kiss," she said, coming around the campfire. "Food up for grabs?"
no subject
"Yes, very much up for grabs. I've got some drinks stashed here as well."
Makejoy peered at her from behind Liir's leg.

Just in case, she sent a thought along a kindred distaff thread. *Hello there! I'm Karla. Can we be friends?* As a rule, one didn't use baby-speak on the kindred. But this one was okay because she was clearly still only a little girl.
no subject
The puppy couldn't speak back but perhaps she heard something as she bounced a little and moved to lick Karla's hand. Animals, after all, had a sense about these things.
"You're welcome to speak to her, but she doesn't understand common Ozian or anything. She's a dog as opposed to a Dog."

Which would be why a small white and very fuzzy cat was going to try and inspect Karla's feet. Hinata watched, smiling and amused.

squealedsaid in a completely serious tone. "You look just like a baby Arcerian cat, don't you?" Well, the claws and fangs were smaller. The cat's owner wasn't hard to guess. "May I pick her up?" she asked Hinata.

For her part, Yei was investigating Karla's ankles and purring.

Karla had never shied away from being blunt. "Are you why everyone wants to know if I can change people into frogs?" In her defense, she tried to ask it as kindly as possible. And 'for real' kind, not her usual half-assed version of kind. "Or are you kindred?"

She gave a nod to Liir and a glance at the different kinds of sausages he'd prepared. "Is for sharing?" she asked, just to be sure.
no subject
"Certainly," he told her.
"Red is beef, yellow chicken, and blue is pork," he told her. "Lemonade's in jars behind me."

No. Unless she was reading everything incorrectly. The wolf was kindred; or, as Liir put it, a Wolf, not a wolf.
Intrigued, she finished up her sausage and rose to greet the new arrivals. "I'm Karla," she said, with a small bow to the girl, and another to the wolf. Remembering what Jaenelle had said about kindred wolves, she kept her movements slow and steady, and did not make full eye-contact with the wolf. Karla had no intentions of fighting him for dominance juuuust yet.
*Can you hear me, Brother?* she sent on a kindred spear thread, while asking the girl aloud, "Does he speak?"
no subject
"Blind Seer speak, yes. In manner of beasts. He understand human speech, but his mouth not made for shaping such sounds. He wish to know what you just do, to make him hear your voice with no sound."
