Behind the Dorms and Beyond, Tuesday Afternoon
Today, one of the two men in charge wasn't bothering to look the other way whenever the other strayed into his vision. Arthur, it seemed, had decided to declare himself Past That for no reason at all. "Afternoon, students," he called, "Today, there is no time to fool around. We'll be mapping the shoreline by foot, in twos and threes. If you have the means to venture out onto the water, today or this week, I ask you to do so as well. We will continue to gain oversight over the island and its structure." A pause, in which he failed to seek out Ino in the audience. "Next week, you will be facing one another in a mock battle. Bring practise weapons."
Noting that Arthur had decided to make an effort, Leto saw no reason not to do the same, and so he did acknowledge his presence, even if he didn't address Arthur directly. "And for those of you who were here last week, you are welcome to hand in the reports on strategy," he continued, then shot a glance at Arthur, to check if he had anything to add.
"For those of you who are still looking to gain some fighting skills, you can come to Leto or myself," Arthur continued, shooting Leto a glance from the corner of his eyes to see if he agreed with that, "Or find a willing teacher now, before we disperse. If you are new, you may speak up now to let us know what your skills are, so everyone will be thoroughly informed in the event of an emergency."
Leto gave a nod in response, but had nothing more to add. He found himself a little relieved that things were a little less tense than last week.
[wait for OCD OCD has been up for a long time and I forgot to edit.]

Re: Arrive/Mingle
"Sure," she was what she said though, "I don't have Staffy with me, but for this it shouldn't be too bad, yeah? I can always come back with it."

"I don't, which is the unfortunate problem," she teased back. "I was just going to try and find a stick to get approximations; see where it'd be easy to land boats and such."

And, well, in a notebook.
Re: Arrive/Mingle
She'd picked it up for her 'fashion' class.
"The lines might be useful as units of measurement, though."
Re: Arrive/Mingle
Re: Arrive/Mingle
She breathed in and out.
"I have to mention training to one of them soon enough and hand in my report," she told her.
"Maybe I'll try and slide in a point about that kind of thing as well."
Re: Arrive/Mingle
Re: Arrive/Mingle
She and her brother had survived because they'd worked together, because they'd been in sync.
Re: Arrive/Mingle
She sighed. "I love teamwork," oddly enough, "my team at home is the best at it."
Re: Arrive/Mingle
She shook her head.
"He makes my blood boil."
She huffed out a sigh as they kept moving.
"My brother and I made a very good team; we compliment each other in a lot of ways. I miss him, sometimes. Though I try not to think about it."
Re: Arrive/Mingle
Like their spinal cords.
"He respects me just fine as a girl," Ino said, glancing up at her. "Maybe it's 'cause I'm a spy and I'm not a warrior the way he is?" She shrugged a bit. "It's kinda best to not moan too much 'bout what's left at home? Otherwise you get held back in working with others here 'cause they aren't the ones you'd rather."
Re: Arrive/Mingle
"Well, other than the folks at Ringos."
She lifted her head.
"But I'm okay. And he's doing all right; I need to call him again to make sure things haven't exploded or anything. And I think I'm doing all right with the people here."
Re: Arrive/Mingle
"You weren't allowed out much, were you?" Ino said, to all appearances unconcerned. "Teamwork is more 'bout being able to work with everyone than being able to work really good with only one person--if that one person went down, you've got to be able to keep it together."
Somewhere, Asuma-sensei was hiding a grin at the lecture.
Re: Arrive/Mingle
She didn't speak to 'if that one person went down' because if Eliot went down--
Fiona didn't even want to think of it.

Re: Arrive/Mingle
Even Great-grandmother Cee had her secrets. Fiona still didn't like it. She wasn't sure she trusted anyone here too much, but she trusted them enough to tell them what she could. Dinah. Griff. Leto and Kenshin and even Ino to some extent. Maybe Karla eventually.
"And as our objective was to accomplish something that would prove that we should be allowed to live, it would be rather pointless to let the other one die to accomplish the objective.
"Either way, we managed it."
Re: Arrive/Mingle
Re: Arrive/Mingle
"And we had our struggles with it. I suppose I'll have to see how it is to work with more than one other person and adjust accordingly, though."
She looked around.
"You want the left half or the right half of this stretch?"
Re: Arrive/Mingle
Ino darted ahead, pulling out her notebook as she did. "Left!"
Re: Arrive/Mingle
"I probably will have to, at some point. And I'm sure you have valid points, but I won't really be able to apply them until the situation comes up. Saying and doing are two different things."
She nodded to Ino, leaving the point for the moment, before she headed off to the right.
