Main Campfire, Tuesday Evening

Alex felt restless enough to emerge from his alcove and head out to the main campfire again. It was easier to both smoke and stay warm since it'd gotten weirdly cold over the last few days. Whatever. He was from Iowa. He was used to this type of weather.

Didn't mean he would pass up a fire.

So, he slouched down against a log, crossing his feet at the ankle and leaning back to blow smoke into the air. It was the second week of classes and, amazingly, they weren't going that badly. Of course, considering the classes, Alex didn't know how they could go badly.

He'd take the good news while he could. It didn't happen often.

[campfires are open things!]

"Yup, likewise." And now that Rose asked, she went back to mulling. "Lessee... Oh, I was definitely thinking about food. Like hotdogs! Those are so good when you roast them yourself."

"Mmm, with peanut butter," she agreed. "best ever."

Chie stared at her oddly for a moment. "... Peanut butter?" she ventured carefully.

"On the hot dog," Rose said. "It kinda melts a little, and it's sooo good."

"I've never heard of anyone trying that before," she admitted. "Is it really? I would've thought that stuff would go good on ... I dunno, cookies and things like that."

[identity profile] guardianborn.livejournal.com 2009-05-20 02:12 am (UTC)(link)
"It really is," she promised. "Everyone who tries it, likes it. Lissa - my best friend - and I used to eat it all the time. If you bring the hot dogs, I'll bring the peanut butter sometime."

"Then it's a deal," Chie said with a nod. "Next time we're both around for a campfire, it's totally hotdog night." The peanut butter still sounded weird, but who was she to pass up something that was claimed to be really good?

"And we'll have chocolate with the marshmallows," Rose decided, offering Chie the bag.

Chie immediately lightened up at the sight. "Whoa, this happens a lot around here, doesn't it."

"Found it in my cabin earlier and decided to snag it," she admitted.

"Eeeexcellent," she snickered, then looked around them carefully. "I'm sure nobody'll notice."

"If someone wanted to keep 'em, they should've kept the bag not out in the common room," Rose said with the air of someone who'd been at boarding school for a loooooong time. "I'll get another bag at some point to replace it."

[identity profile] kickyouinthe.livejournal.com 2009-05-20 03:03 am (UTC)(link)
"True enough," Chie agreed, grabbing some of the chocolate and marshmallows for herself. "I don't think I could ever get sick of this."

[identity profile] guardianborn.livejournal.com 2009-05-20 03:13 am (UTC)(link)
"Which?" she asked. "The marshmallows or the school?"

[identity profile] kickyouinthe.livejournal.com 2009-05-20 03:17 am (UTC)(link)
"The marshmallows, definitely," Chie corrected. "I like my classes now, but once the summer's over, it's gonna be back to regular ones, isn't it?"

[identity profile] guardianborn.livejournal.com 2009-05-20 03:31 am (UTC)(link)
"Suppose," Rose said, shrugging. "Just got here last weekend. Seems like there's gotta be more classes in the fall."
