Main Campfire, Tuesday Evening

Alex felt restless enough to emerge from his alcove and head out to the main campfire again. It was easier to both smoke and stay warm since it'd gotten weirdly cold over the last few days. Whatever. He was from Iowa. He was used to this type of weather.

Didn't mean he would pass up a fire.

So, he slouched down against a log, crossing his feet at the ankle and leaning back to blow smoke into the air. It was the second week of classes and, amazingly, they weren't going that badly. Of course, considering the classes, Alex didn't know how they could go badly.

He'd take the good news while he could. It didn't happen often.

"Marshmallow?" Rose asked the other girl, holding one up. Since she had the bag, might as well make use of it.

"Is that what's in there?" Morgana asked, peering into the bag. "What are they?"

"Pretty much sugar," Rose said, tilting her head to look at the side of the bag. "Yep. Sugar, sugar, sucrose, and air."

"Oh, I do like the sound of that," Morgana said, reaching in and taking one. "Thank you for sharing."

"Anytime," Rose said lightly. "Anytime I have them at least. And unlike Alex over there, I won't throw them at you."

Morgana laughed. "I would hope not. That's a waste of perfectly good sugar, among other things."

"Eh, I figured if he didn't catch them, it was his own fault," she grinned.

"And his waste of sugar," she replied. "I'm Morgana, by the way. It's lovely to meet you, and not just because of the marshmallows," she said, attempting the new word on her own.

"Exactly. Not my fault at all," Rose said lightly. "I'm Rose. It's good to meet you too." She paused to think for a moment. "There can't be more than one Morgana, right? You must be my roommate."

"I thought it strange that everyone was given someone to live with except for myself," she said. "Did you arrive late? I should tell you, I've never had to share my living quarters with someone. This will be a new experience for me."

"Just this past Saturday," she said. "Don't worry. I've been at boarding school since I was small. We'll be fine. Just have to work out a signal for boys and everything else is cake."

"A signal for boys?" Morgana asked.

"Well, yeah," Rose said. "So we don't accidentally walk in on each other."

"You mean...oh!" Morgana said, surprised at how she blushed when she realized what Rose meant. "I don't think you'll need to be concerned about that. At least, not with me."

"You never know," Rose teased, way amused by the blush. "There's a lot of cute boys..."

"It's rather amazing, isn't it?" Morgana admitted. "I don't know if I could give any of them a serious thought though."
