LBJ Campfire, Thursday Night

Sometime during the day, Sam had come to a sad realization - he hadn't had nearly enough s'mores for the amount of time they'd been out at the cabins. When the evening rolled around and the sun finally went down, he lit the cabin's campfire and set himself up with all the necessary supplies, to cook for himself and for anyone else who sat down.

It wasn't long before he figured out that his marshmallow roasting stick was also good for keeping tiny moose away from the fire. It was kind of amazing how this place still found ways to weird him out, even after all this time.

"He's something of a pet," Chuck said. No, he had no problem saying that in front of Sam.

"He is kinda puppy-ish," Jennifer said. "I don't think we've met."

"We haven't." He was being kind of slow about meeting the new kids. "I'm Chuck Bass. You must be new."

"I guess that's obvious," Jennifer said. "I'm Jennifer Walters. Nice to meet you, Chuck."

"Nice to meet you too," he said, giving her a smile. "Where are you coming from, Jennifer?"

"LA," Jennifer said. "You know, this little place out in California."

"I think I've heard of it," Chuck said, snickering. "I'm from New York City. You know, little place out in...New York."

Okay, that didn't work the same way hers did.

"As opposed to New York City, Kansas," Jennifer said. "Good to make the distinction."

"God, I can't even think about being from Kansas," Chuck said with a shudder. "No, definitely from the Big Apple."

"I've always wanted to live in NYC," Jen said. "There's some good firms out there."

"You want to be a lawyer?" Chuck asked. "Aren't you a little young to be wanting to do something that boring?"

Said the guy who was going into real estate.

"I have reasons," Jennifer said. "Personal ones."

She didn't want to just issue-vomit all over the cute guy's shoes, though.

"Fair enough," Chuck allowed. "I can't rag too much on lawyers. I've needed quite a few in the past."

"Oh my," Jennifer said. "Are you a troublemaker, Chuck?"

"Not at all. I've merely had many false accusations placed against me," Chuck said innocently.

"And that's part of why I want to be a lawyer," Jennifer said. "Protecting the innocent."

"You can protect me any time you want," Chuck told her. "I'd appreciate it."

"Well, I'm not a lawyer yet," Jennifer said. "So I can't do a lot of protecting." She chuckled a little, amused.

"Don't sell yourself short, I'm sure you can protect me plenty," Chuck said, smirking.

"I'm pretty small," Jennifer said. "So unless you need someone to save you from... tiny moose, I'm sure you're just flattering me."
